MyBB BF3 Clan

So last night was great. One question. When I finally got my Team Speak to work I had no sound in BF3. Is there some sort of setting I missed? Also I'm looking for a good gaming headset because this Logitech 860 is not cutting it. Any suggestion, I have my eye on the Razer Banshee (good buy?).
Bump...

Would probably be a good idea to set up cardinal points since there doesnt seem to be a compass when you're on foot. What about South always being our spawn and North being their spawn? Just an immediate frame of reference - in combination with landmarks. The problem with using landmarks on the fly is that it could be a bit imprecise where as if you were to say, enemy infantry north west would mean infantry forward and left of your current position.

I also agree with what someone said about saying your name before you speak just so that people know who is talking. Not sure of a natural way of doing that is so something to think on. Would be great if we could start to get a couple protocols for communication. Worked brilliantly last night when the information was flowing freely and efficiently between teammates.

Use conquest points as reference?
Sniper at 8 o clock from bravo
Tank incoming to delta at 12 o clock (you could actually drop the o clock part)
Support arriving to alpha from 3

Adding an estimate of distance would also be great, but that'll take many many hours of experience to figure out

I bought a headset ages ago from Hifi-corp was a cheap arse brand with mic and headset. It was perfect, obviously not this blow your mind type sound but much better than my speaker set-up. And it had a mic. Kids came and broke it. Think I bought it for R 160 or something silly.

Wife weekend before last saw an exact same one, unbranded from a china shop for R 50. Bought it and it works like a charm.

If you want mind blowing sound then spend $$$ on it. If you just want great sound with a mic, get a cheapy. I think the one I had was branded Yo-Data (The older one) the new one is exactly the same, but with no branding.

If you know the maps good enough you will know all the spots people camp and run in from. So if you say: "Sniper behind the market" you will know there is a small building there behind the other building where snipers camp on.

Sounds good to me too! Great suggestions and input from everybody, keep 'em coming :)

Who is "Kosmik" on TS?

I take it we combine this with the point of reference being our start is at 6 o'clock and theirs 12 o'clock?

I can see people looking around on their map trying to remember where the 7 or the 4 goes and then get WTFPWNED by an RPG :D

There is a compass under your mini map - it shows what direction you are looking in. There needs to be some standard guys - if it changes depending on where you spawn, it will just get confusing. This o'clock thing will not work on caspian border for instance, also not landmarks - "third rock from that big tree over there next to... wap wap wap... deploy"

It's easy. If said person spots a threat he can look at his compass and just relay the direction as enemy round NE corner or something like that. Remember you move in squads so you all should be more or less in the same area.

I think I'll just run to whatever I need to show people :p Then nobody will be confused

Is there?!? I must have missed this. This makes it much easier.

Just a quick scenario:
map.jpg

(Those "V" shapes are players, and it indicates the direction they are facing)

Two enemies run past Teamie A, who sees them, and needs to warn where they are. If we assume that the top of the image is the top of the map/north/their spawn (ie, 12 o'clock), what must teamie A then say to identify? Let's assume he is not aware of Teamie B's exact position.

PS - MSPaint FTW!

Teamie A should shoot them in the back leaving zero problems for teamie B? :D

They could say "enemy approaching from your 9 o'clock" or "enemy advancing East (since direction is the same for everyone)...

But yes, this could get helluva confusing...
