MyBB guide to quitting smoking

OMFS dude, sounds like you need to eat better, you have 40gram of all bran and a yogurt in the morning?

How on earth do you survive? Your body must be in shock and storing fat like there is no tomorrow. You seem to be starving yourself more than eating well. i thought weigh less was about eating well. I never realized it was a starve yourself diet.

Why do you drink decaf coffee yet you whack back 3 cuts of tea? Tea has caffeine in it as well :D

the tea I was talking about is rooibos. Weighless doesn't allow for caffeine

I am actually quite fine with the quantities.

Tea does have almost 25% more caffeine than coffee, *BUT* the quantity of tea consumed per standard cup is far less than the amount of coffee, which leads to one consuming less caffeine from tea than from coffee. Rooibos has even less caffeine though.

According to www.mayoclinic.com, a standard 240ml cup of coffee contains 95-200mg of caffeine, whilst tea contains about 40-120mg of caffeine
that from the same size cup?

No thanks, that thread sounds more like people getting in touch with their inner stomach than actually discussing the diets, technicality etc.

ROFL!! thanks for the laugh :)

almost a month cold turkey and i must say the cravings are almost all gone :D

Same here!!

My true test will be this weekend though. So far, I have only been to functions with girlfriend where smoking is not allowed and this weekend we will be going to a braai and there will be drinking and some smokers. I don't think I will have a problem though. I haven't had any cravings so far.

You will have a problem so be prepared to have your eyes gazing in wonder at the red cherry and you might find yourself breathing in some of the smoke and the alcohol will make you drop your guard so formulate a plan now rather than sit there thinking aggg just one cigi will be fine i have done so well, one cannot hurt.

Smoking will get you again when you think you over are it and much like a junkie is never over their fix neither will you be. Once you get your head around that it will be easy :D

Grim dude how is it going with you eh? stopped again?

So the solution do not drink or rather drink very little ?

Thinking about getting some Castle light for the weekend.

I've just passed the 2 week mark of quitting smoking ... seems to be going ok... tested myself again this last Friday... was sitting and having drinks with the rest of the Friday night drinks crew.. decided to have 1 cigarette... took one drag, and realised how crap it tasted and put it out immediately... i think that's a victory in my book. :)

Don't get pissed, i have been there about 7 times in my life and it never ends well sadly. You throw away all the hard work. If at all possible avoid drinking until you have adjusted to being a non smoker. Resistance wavers very badly when you got a good few drinks in.

I don't think having a cigi or even a drag two weeks in is a win. You will have another go and then it will be half way through it tastes crap, then a full one, then a whole packet :D. The trick is to stop and be able to get through an entire evening without thinking about or focusing on the burning delicious cherries around you :p

I suppose... but it still feels good to realise that you can do without.... I'm still not completely out of the woods... but getting there..:)

There is no such thing as out the woods, for the rest of your life you will be one cigi away from addicted. Personally i know this to be true, been 4 month, 6, months as long as a year before and then bam one and it's all over.

Yea, I wish I never started.

My one friend's father stopped smoking 32 years ago and he told me he still sometimes get cravings

Today is one of those days where I really feel like I could hurt someone in the office (this is where smoking helped me) When I use to get mad in the past I would walk outside, have a smoke or two and calmly walk back and deal with the situation. I think before this day is out someone in this office of mine WILL be hurt.

ouch! That is exactly how I felt last week.

Today I was wishing for a cigarette. Was in a meeting for 2 hours and when I walked out I wanted to have a smoke so bad.

My cravings are subsiding nicely. I honestly don't feel like a smoke at all. The thought actually gives me a headache.

Just keep swimming :)

It's just that dealing with people that get my gal up is not doing me good with the stopping smoking....

Exactly!!

I can do fine at home or when around friends, but when dealing with some of the idiots at work... it is not good for my health without smoking :p
