Got to work, nice and warm... unbelievable how warm a jacket inner, easy overs and proper biker boots are.

Glad you made it warmly. I’m sitting in fourways traffic now. Took me three robot cycles to get out my complex

Vok it's freezing.

/don every warm article of gear i own

You haven't experienced real cold until you've had to park your bike next to a wall in the hope that the heat it absorbed the previous day radiates enough the next morning so that you can actually start your bike.

And I'm pretty sure that cold is still mild compared to what one experiences around Bloemfontein

So needless to say if it was raining you'd be well prepared...and then you would be faniedry again? :D

Absolutely. To be honest it never gets kark koud in JHB. It's just cold to what we normally used to.

How about 4C in the rain and mud on the road from Barkley East to Rhodes! 48km took us over 2.5hrs!!!

The cold was horrible this morning, but somehow less than expected. :) Love the heated grips though. Seat had dew on it when I got on this morning. All worth it when going past the cars stuck in massively unexpected traffic.

I personally think that if I am properly geared up on a cold winter day I get to work warmer that driving a car up here in Pretoria.

So, my bike is a bit battered and bruised. I'm looking for a reputable mechanic in Cape Town, who can help with my myriad of issues. Any suggestions in the Southern Suburbs/Peninsula?

Ebrahim, The Bike Doctor:

Address: Unit 5, Alpha Park, 17th Ave, Maitland, Cape Town, 7404
Phone: 083 685 5111

...he specialises in Ducati but bottom line: he's an old school mechanic, not a parts replacement technician. I swear by his work and so do several people I know.

Incidentally: one does not use "of" with myriad. "...with my myriad issues." would have been grammatically correct. The more you know...:)

Thank you for both the bike and grammatical info. I'm in a bit of a tizz at the moment; I blame an excess of adrenaline for my butchery....

Yeah agreed you don't go through the hot/cold/hot/cold cycle as you jump in and out of car because you are kitted as you go out the front door.

Just finished a 3253km trip .... Durbs > Barkley Pass > Devils Bellows > Katberg Pass > Ado Elephant Park > Meiringspoort > Baviaanskloof > Swartberg Pass > De Hel > Steytlervile > Willowmoore > Cradock > Rhodes > Durbs ... 8 days! Was freaking Epic

Sounds Awesome

True Story

This mornings ride in felt a lot colder that yesterdays ride in the rain.
