Guys, quick question. Do you guys have any specific brand of fuel, or do you just put in whichever brand is closest when time to fill up?

I normally fill up with Sasol and my consumption remains quite constant, then last week I filled up with BP and suddenly my consumption is about 6% more - same type of riding

My next tank I will put in Sasol again and see if it comes down again

The brand does not matter to me however I like to stick to certain garages/locations as the staff get familiar with me; they take more care when they know I'm there every week.

See I don't like the tank filled all the way to the top and I say as much to the person but at one specific garage I have had to raise my voice several times to stop them from spilling fuel. So now I avoid that one.

I guess it's the fake friendliness / tipping / competition between staff - I don't like filling up half the time. So now I fill up completely every 2 weeks which is 400km of commuting. The reserve is probably bone dry.

I have the same, and they take 24 hours to dry. Unless I put them in the dry buddy (couple hours )
I ended up taking them back. Fingers were too long and the leather shop couldn't fix them. So now I have some different alpinestars and some liners for them. And a punxture kit. For the same money

I seem to recall some talk of backpacks a while back in this thread, so perhaps this is the right place to ask - I'm looking for a properly waterproof backpack that can house a 15" laptop. Any suggestions? And it doesn't need to be available locally

Swak to see you go Archer but... enjoy mate!

Caltex for UCount but I use so little fuel that I end up going to whichever is closest once the low fuel message comes up

I'd take proper fitting gloves over warm gloves. Can't stand having gloves bunch up under my hands

Yeh, 95% of the time I will fill up at the same garage. Friendly staff and the owner stays across the road from me.

When I go there with my car, they normally ask me "Hoeveel hout vandag meneer?" :crylaugh: Was there in the week after work filling up for my wife, and the guy looked confused when I said I didn't want any wood :D

I mostly fill up at one specific garage. Partly cause it's close by, but mostly cause I always check my tyre pressure when I fill up and making use of one specific station kind of makes sure that the gauges read the same.

I've found large variances in gauge readings throughout Randburg - this one is the most accurate one that is close by.

normally tyre pressures should be set to spec when cold - I check and adjust my tyre pressures at home - my bike shows the tyre pressure and I check/pump them when the reading goes 0.2bar below spec

Took the KLR out for some photos (to put it on Gumtree, sadly)

I am going to miss this heavy, fat labour of love :(

Baka! Nail in the rear tire.

Of course it only happens when you don’t have the tire repair kit with you.

Limped to Just Bike Tire and getting the front fitted that I was due while I’m here.

Had a minor heart attack thinking the BMW is also going to succumb to the great 30,000km engine failure when the massive flashing red lighted popped up on the dash.

First I hear of this? I thought the BMW's are reliable... :( Is it all BMW's or 1200's only?
