Now that I'm wearing this:

cat217.jpg

I've found that I am clearly more visible, given the reactions of drivers around me compared to before.

So after watching a few youtube vids about mods i can do i really want to get started on it. where do you guys shop for mod parts? exhaust, levers, frame sliders, gear indicators and the like??

I've eBayed pretty much every exhaust ever.

Levers I've never seen the point of.

Frame Sliders and the like I go straight to R&G.

Gear indicator...why would you need this and how do you even add it to a bike that doesn't have it?

Cool, gear indicator I dunno I just like it, I watched a video bite where a guy connects it to a cable (I'm guessing ecu) under the seat on a 650r (US version of er6) together with power and that's it.

Oh might be a case of the bike being prepared for it and never fitted.

But I would say ride it for at least six months before you start doing this stuff so it feels like it was worth the money.

I normally buy an exhaust for my bikes on their first birthday. That way you know your bike really well and feel the difference it makes.

I don't understand the notion of modifying straight out of the box. It's not like you get any cash back for not taking the stock items.

True, never planned to do any mods for 6 months for exactly reasons, the sound of that exhaust though, is what got me thinking. If anything right now I'll be saving up for exhaust.

I changed exhaust and added some extra light, been threatening to replace airfilters but after 11 years I guess I wiling come around to doing it!

My first bike I lasted 2 days before I ordered an arrow exhaust. Was going to hold off for a few months for the exact reason you have, but after being almost side-swiped twice on the way home by cars who decided to change lane while I was right next to them, I decided being a bit noisier was a good thing.

(also the MT07 with full arrow exhaust sounds glorious)

Hmm with a Two Brothers Race use only system on my bike and no baffled or noise restriction whatsoever I can tell you people still turn directly in front of me even when coming from the FRONT.

But it's a decent enough excuse even if only a placebo effect to make you feel safer.

Full as in headers and everything? Is it a factory approved setup or you got a PC as well?

Not factory approved, the only approved was the akropovic system. Arrow was cheaper, looked better and sounded way better.
Full system, headers, decat and end can.

Grumble grumble
Stupid guy on a black bike (and black gear) riding around in this fog... and his headlight is broken... I wouldn't say it was close but if I had been vaguely distracted and not noticed that one of the cars headlights disappeared for a moment (because this guy was passing the car) it could very well have turned into a head on collision.

And on that note, again 7 vehicles without lights on this morning. Man, we need to get the city to allow us to dish out fines somehow. Even with only 10% commission I'd be rich!

The amount of people i see driving with no lights on during limited visibility is too damn high. The people with faulty brake lights also piss me off. Taking care of such things is part of owning a vehicle, its not extra effort.

Hardcore. On stock map?

Ya, checked on the internets, didn't need to change anything, bike runs fine with the different pipes....at about 10x the noise :)
Stock pipe was almost silent. Scooters were louder.

I'm thinking of adding LED strips to the side of my bike for better visibility. It has these huge plastic covers that house the indicators and a 'fake' side light. Gonna put a strip in there, should make it a lot more visible.

For how it sounded without the noise baffle in.
I miss that rumble :cry
but current bike has 2.5x the power...so compensations :)

I'm bored as hell on my 250. Thinking of upgrading.

Is a cbr600rr too much for me to handle, or should I maybe look at a 650?
