The 600 class, imo, is the best starter class. They are light enough that they are easy to ride, but they have enough power that you can have alot of fun once you get used to them, but are still 'safe' that they are only fast if you push them.

My biggest problem (besides when it's too cold or wet to take the bike) is where do I go from the b-king? Mothing really close to it that I .....OOOoooo Aprilia Tuono 1100

LOL I was about to say that in my post as I was reading and then you did.

What's this too cold and too wet nonsense though?

I like my comforts. Got a thing with Windows and doors when it gets wet.

We get a bit screwed with bike prices locally. In europe the MT07 is cheaper than the Honda NC700/750. Here its a chunk more expensive.
I'd still rate it as one of the best 'starter' value for performance bikes tho.

In 2 years (and more than 15 years of not riding bikes) I went from 70 hp, to 115hp to 181hp (and 140 odd NM of torque)

It's a bit silly to compare markets directly though.

Honda is huge in SA and also sells cars so they can offer preferential pricing.

Yamaha is not and it's a smaller market that falls very strictly in the leisure camp.

Then you look at BMW where we under price the other countries and sell at a higher spec, I'm guessing because we sell a lot more.

Can't deny that I guess.

Just the sitting in between said windows and doors even longer than on a bright sunny day always overrides it for me.

I"m a patient man and all (or so my wife tells me) but what the **** was I thinking buying a bike so far in advance and it's STILL 12 days away from me fetching it.

I bought my bike, or at least paid the deposit end october. Didnt have learners and had to wait till 2 December for an appointment. Was the longest "month and a bit" of my life. Also keeping that secret from the inner circle was toughest.

Is there any place you can see the sales of different bikes per month?
There's so few second Duke 390s for sale on autotrader for example, was interested in how many they sell a month.

Don't know if AMID shares those stats in detail but the 390s are relatively new so don't think many guys are selling ... Yet

My Jan 2015 now has just over 6000km on so need to keep it a while longer !

in Parys i booked to write learners on a tuesday and wrote the following day.

You guys been watching Moto gp? Freaking loving the moto3 with South African brad binder.

Mounted my camera today.

Pimping.
Does the helmet not obscure a lot? I used to have camera on the side and then went for chin mount, just because you can see everything nicely.

Also did you do the light-works yourself?
:thumbsup

Missing the beast today :(

The more I ride it, the more I can push it a little bit more. Still to scared to give it more than half throttle in 1st and 2nd. :D

To quote Queen: "I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike"

Does anyone know if you can order new padding for a helmet? After almost 3 years I can feel mine is starting to get loose.

i watch royal jordanian and snowcat on youtube both use side mounted cams, so i just got used to it. i don't feel that it blocks out too much. the helmet comes standard with those leds in. front and back. its the shark Skwal. 1 up from the s700. i got lucky as full throttle was having a special 15% off so i used that to get the better helmet at the same price i was already willing to spend. so much to do so little money, i now was a Sena or similar device to comfortably take and make phone calls while riding and maybe some soft music for the longer rides.

is there an SA site or store ? can't seem to find it, if it exists.

Nope. I always just import from their store.

But there much be a distributor because I've seen their stuff at Suzuki South before.
