Jeez I just went to look at the new pricing.

My bike has actually appreciated...even if I had paid full price for it.

That's crazy.

Bought these this morning, since the velcro on my close to ten year old summer gloves is warn to the point it just flaps now and the fingers no longer even grip around my hand so they'll probably just come straight off if I crashed.

Always wanted Alphinestars stuff but was between this and a pair of RST's which I now trust as my Winter gloves are two years old now and going super strong other than the logo coming off.

First pair of shorties as well and that worried me but it's actually nice for summer with the minor gap between leathers and gloves to let some air in. These also aren't super mesh and therefore not too cold when the sun disappears (I hope).

However the right index finger is a bit straight, can't put my finger on it (lol) but might take them back and swop for another pair. I went as far as putting Alphinestar on one hand and RST on other to go check on the bike, but stupidly didn't take the final pair I wanted to test again.

I feel gloves should just "work" and if anything makes you think about it's not right. These are your primary means of control after all.

Every second poepol has one. Either that or the Triumph Tiger. There's just something about the average biker that says "I need a car sized adventure bike for city commuting"

While there are for sure many 1200 owners who are basically just mid life crisis types, the thinking behind getting them is that it sucks being on a 450cc for 100-1000km to get to the place you want to ride. The single cylinder 650's are not much better in this regard (my wife came with once and never again). Things in the 700-1000cc range are probably better suited for the off road stuff but for sure still not as comfortable (but pretty good). Then the +1000cc is so that you can lug all your camping (or is that B&B :p) gear, the SO, your dog and the kitchen sink and still eat up the km's on the tar roads, but obviously suffer with the added weight if things get tricky.

And besides... powaaaaaaah seems to very much form part of the typical mid life crisis male vocabulary :p

mid-life - check
200+kW car - check (although i'm going to be selling it)
180+hp bike - check
crisis - not that I know of :)

Nah, those gloves don't look mean enough -> not a real biker then :p

This is more like it - http://www.richa.eu/en/evolution-glove?cid=10

Although having said that, the guys in the US wearing skull balaclavas strike me as odd...

Still looking for decent summer gloves. Winter I have BMW motorad gortex gloves - brillaint, warmest I have found so far.
Summer - problem is the size of the gloves. The last 2 pairs were both fine when trying them on, then after a few days of riding they no longer comfortable. Material bunches up fingers, which I hate.

Guess I need to get a size that I can just get my hands into, then hope they stretch nicely.

You left out a step - you actually know how to handle both those vehicles. Crisis people almost certainly do not ;)

Looking around researching options now, don't want to restrict myself to BMW.
So many options...
What are thoughts on the Honda transalp 700s?

First question is what type of bike do you want. Unless you plan to go off road then a dual-purpose bike is a bit of a waste.

I will probably be riding on some fairly ****ty roads, like around hartebeespoort, want something comfortable and able to soak up potholes etc.
Nc750x?

Ktm duke?

The NC is "soft" but for soaking up potholes... Dunno. Of the 3 bikes I've had (entry level naked, dual-sports-sortof and hyper-naked) they all soak up the bumps pretty much the same. Although the Suzuki at speed rides like a rock, mostly ignores bumps.

The Duke is not ideal for bad roads / dirt roads the tires are basically slicks .
I have been on some ****ty roads with my Duke and not a pleasant experience , you have to keep your shyt together .

But I'm thinking for a bumpier road a more upright position will be a lot better than a 'sporty' lean forward.

XT660 - full black outfit - be a hollywood biker baddy!

Let's do this
