2017 demo is mine for Saturday.
At least the stanchions won't fall out after a wheelie or 3! :crylaugh:
Best you put both settings in Dynamic then.
Arguably this is the worse time to be opening a dealership of the arguably costliest motorcycles
I remember when they were in Bo Kaap many years ago and my eyes watered at their pricing. The Diablo at the
Time was an inferior version of the Tiger at four times the price.
Not even Cayenne which has opened and closed in the Cape and is set to reopen yet again has done so.
There's a market for lower and mid range bikes more so than luxury high end bikes- I don't know who has the cash lying around.
BMW has full stocks of the GS - they all look like drones taking up all the showroom floor space.
Vespa scooters are also piling up outside the retailers in town.
Not even Harley could hold on to their two town prime locations within a 5 year period - two locations shut.
Ducati Diablo? Must have missed that model. And if you meant the Diavel how does that relate to Tiger in the slightest? Even then I don’t remember a Bo Kaap dealership and if there was one the Diavel didn’t exist at the time.
They were in the Waterfront next to Aston Martin when the Diavel launched.
But as for the money it’s been a long time coming and all comes from Porsche I believe so it’s probably a case of following through on plans.
That being said as a non-dealership satellite office Ducati has been doing very well and their pricing has become more reasonable in recent years from an ownership point of view.
They are still “exotically” priced any way you look at it and partly why I don’t own one as the quality wasn’t there and the features were also lacking while wanting more money.
Harley Cape Town never had two locations. They moved one location to another. Buitengracht Street to Somerset Road.
Harley Tygervalley is a completely different setup with different owners and very successful.
As for Cayenne I never knew they even opened never mind closed so that’s just bad marketing.
In my mind they just always operated Droomers as a satellite Cayenne office and can still supply any bike from Cayenne Jo’burg even now.
Cape Town market needs to be priced and serviced separately and accordingly I reckon otherwise you will suffer.
Can’t comment on BMW stock really but from what I’ve seen they’ve been rotated stock quick readily considering the market. But then I don’t really look at the GS.
Triumph I know is struggling from personal conversations with them and even skipping the import of some models completely unless specially ordered and paid for up front.
Either way Ducati have a huge number of loyal customers in Cape Town already who never liked the Somerset West setup that will float the boat I’m sure.
They’ll continue a smallish setup with low staff numbers and probably also the reason for sharing with Audi.
Technically they are just moving. Not opening a brand new operation.
