So. Accident on Tuesday. Broke right shoulder and compound fractures left arm. Bike is a write off

Eina. Speedy recovery...


Decided to clean and lube chain today. Checked tightness and wow. These things can stretch. Moved the back axle a good 6mm backwards...

Damn. I came out if the checkers and heard the sirens coming. Only when I exited the center did I see the accident. There was a lady assisting you - looked like she was keeping your head still. Your helmet wasn't removed either so looked like she knew what she was doing.

What happened? From what a very quickly saw the bike was totaled on the side of the road. Car cut you off?
 
Also just done the clean and chain wax, at least my tension is still ok

Eish man, sorry to hear that but the fact that you can post here is already a good sign.

I know you generally know your stuff but just in case...you do realise it's supposed to have some gap and not be completely taught right?

30mm odd for the NC.

30-40mm, yup. It was very slack.

Yes car was turning into the shopping center without looking or indicating. I hit brakes and locked up. Car got scared and stopped mid turn. To avoid car I leaned right whilst holding front brakes and the bike bucked me off. Rolled 7 times. The people that helped were all lifesavers and I owe them
 
So got to play with the R1200 RS over the weekend.

Not bad at all. Different from the Triumph & R1, but still fun.

Left it in dynamic mode, ESA set for 2 up on Saturday. Quickshifter works well - but not from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. 3rd up works like a dream. It was totally novel using it for downshifts as well - took a bit of getting used to! The nicest part of the downshifting was the little blip each time to rev match. Gotta love computers!

Wife was comfortable & enjoyed as well.

The only thing we both noticed is an annoying vibration at 4k rpm. Particularly noticeable as we were participating in a mass ride, so could not adjust the speed. Also noticed throttle surge at the same rpm when holding steady throttle & speed which was bloody annoying. That was in 4th gear at 100km/h - changing to 5th or 6th meant sluggish response when wanting to accellerate, so I kept it in 4th. The 4k vibration equates to 120km/h in 6th gear, so is a royal PITA, pardon the pun.

I went out for a ride yesterday morning, this time solo. Had great fun. Unusual for me was the low seating position & the footpeg placement compared to what I usually ride.

All in all it was great fun. Not sure I could justify the R200k though?

Do people not do this or is it just nice having it done for you?
Engine braking on my R9T is so hectic that blipping is mandatory unless I want to hold the clutch in all the time while slowing down.
