Yep, all good. I was actually a little nervous to get back on the bike. Haven't been on a bike in almost 4 months, and now had to tackle Centurion to Kempton 5pm traffic.

Ag, it took all of 20 seconds to get back into the rhythm

Interesting, I would have expected them to improve, not degrade the quality of the bike with new revisions.

What I meant was more that many people who pass the car K53 actually still can’t drive.

Bikes if you pass it, then it actually means you can ride.

I advise everyone do at least do one training session before attempting it specifically for the silly little stuff.

Like getting the right speed before the emergency stuff and the stopping precision. And when to waggle your head around like an epileptic.

Well they aren’t revisions.

They are alternative versions.

That 850 though... finally tubeless rims! decent power, better suspension and electronics. I reckon very late 2018 early 2019 for S.A to get stock (dealership said 2nd quarter 2018 - doubt that). Can't wait to see when they introduce the Adventure version, I'll look at that when my LC is paid off...

Might also go from LC to that...but then this made an appearance and threw a spanner in the works...will need to decided carefully.

Nah it is a prototype but same as the Duke was a prototype last year. Prototype unveiled Eicma 2016, final bike this year for sale early 2018.
They will definitely bring the Enduro out. Probably unveil the final production model at EICMA 2018 for sale in early 2019.

Well yes and no. K53 teaches you to pass a test. Not to ride a bike. Ditto for K53 car test.

For the most part, yes. But you can fail if you don't know some of the rules and procedures like the "correct" way to break, get your bike in neutral and back into gear to pull away again.

You may argue that the whole procedure of coming to halt in gear with your right foot on the brake before going through the whole footwork circus of getting the bike into neutral before repeating it to get it back into gear might be second nature or "obviously correct" but I'm willing to bet that most of the self-taught that never went for any training won't get it right on the day.

When I did my K53 the instructor wanted to fail me because my speed was too high prior to the emergency braking exercises. That despite the fact that I stopped before the X in the square every single time. As stated above - K53 teaches you to pass a test, not to ride proficiently or skillfully.

At the risk of repeating myself...... I have trained numerous riders who passed their K53 & yet who had minimal riding skills.

Precisely. Plus, so help you if you get a knee down when doing the cornering part of the test..... Apparently according to the K53 no rider ever travels faster than 25km/h.

Complete crock, which partly explains why the accident rate in SA is as high as it is.
