Why are people so quick to get belligerent? Perhaps there has been an uptick of motorcycle related incidents of which riding dangerously was the primary cause of the accident. Plenty of stories continually doing the rounds of riders did this, that and the next thing. Are they the minority? I'm not so sure anymore, especially with all these suicidal delivery scooters appearing all over the show. Understand that you may not be the issue, and you wouldn't need to raise your BP to over 9000

I cant speak for the stats, only for my personal experiences. To which I have alluded.

Yes the laws still apply to us as it should, and them making the assumption that just because we're bikers, we think the rules dont apply to us? **** THEM.

I've not had any issues with them.

Often have them move over for me and let me pass.

The one time they did pull me off years ago was because I was riding like a **** and deserved it.

Which is why I don't like this kind of genetic messaging because then tomorrow some car is blocking bikes thinking lane splitting is illegal.

Maybe I'm just unlucky.
Several traffic cops have pulled me over and ooh'd and Aaah'd over my bike and car. At checkpoints, i must add. Never been pulled over in traffic.

Only Ghost squad have ever been arrogant and straight up rude to me. Then look for an issue on the car / bike. Fortunately, both are 100% street legal.

They only time I've ever experienced a decent G.S. cop, was in Worcester when we were on a breakfast run in the cars. Even then, the 2 cars that were fined, the cop said he hated to fine them, "but no number plate is no number plate" Which is fair.

And I can't think of any way to deal with someone like that so just passed him to not have to look at him.

I thank almost every cager that gives me space, sometimes my head is like a bobble-head thanking everyone. as a kid i always loved seeing the biker wave, so now i do it all the time.

Well to be honest if you were running around without numberplates especially willfully so with both front and back missing then I would also be a bit of a **** about it.

you were quite correct, lovely bike. right sized and smooth as silk. just couldn't help but think I wish it was a 500. loves to rev, the power band just falls short of anything hooligan. sadly. next up 390 duke.

Yeah the Baby Duke might fit the bill a little bit better but is probably also going to amount to a serious compromise.

Sadly I can't think of much else in that smaller but not tiny space.

ER6 is too big I would imagine? Or probably too expensive.

BMW G310 worth a look?

I dislike bikes over 200kgs, so im just going through the motions at the moment, the duke 390 / 690 are up after the 650 versys this afternoon. I've heard the versys has enough hooligan in it. the g310 is way too small for me a colleague had one and for his build it was great but I'm reasonably tall and built. the ER6 ninja? too impact and race oriented I think. road cruiser is where I'm at.
 
Much as I like Suzuki, I see the SV as bit of a pig. But that might be because I've only ever had GSX-R's (my k6 1k weighs in at 167kg dry, apparently) and we all know how that goes, so feel free to ignore me

Also (in general), what is the current opinion on the Suzuki drz400sm? Are they even available for sale as new?

I'm working that as we speak. I need a commuter. I would like a bit of hooligan aswell. light nimble, 130kph on the highway. I think an upright sitting position is comfortable. I had an R1 once and man that thing was uncomfortable over distance hence the street cruiser direction.

I just got back from riding the versys 650. much much better. significant power. engine behaves identically to the 300. linear. maybe that's it, the twin... it respectable whereas a single is very much in your face. perhaps the 390 or 690 duke will talk to me.

basically my tenere 660 has 53-000ks on it and I getting a bit grey. I can't sell it, it has taken me over the last 8 years to every single pass, pan, river dam that I wanted to see I almost every single corner of RSA. I also don't think smashing 380ks week in week out is good. I want to slap on some Midas 09 on. clean it park in the garage and keep it specialised off road bike. and commute with what's next.
