so frankly i dont really mind if it works but has to be glued in place or the clip has to be screwed off

anyone know where to find a shark d-skwal visor at a decent price, prices online are mental.

I sadly broke the one sides clip taking the visor off to clean it :(
The C-clip breaking is a common flaw on skwal and d-skwal, mine broke while just opening my visor. Shark acknowledge this and will replace the visor for free at the distributor, you just need to provide your receipt and warranty card that came with the helmet. I went to Langston motorsports in midrand.

Mine is almost 3 years old. Can't remember how long the warranty is, but if I can get it replaced that would be awesome, think they'd still replace with the glue on it ?
Also need to find my receipt, that might be a problem.

Mine was about the 18 months old when it broke, I think the warranty is 2 years IIRC. I'm not sure about the glue just ask, it's worth a try. They also changed the whole clip mechanism with the visor so maybe the glue wouldn't make a difference. And since it breaks due to a known fault perhaps the warranty isn't a consideration.

I'll pop Langston motorsports a mail.
I work close, in centurion. The glue is only on the visor so I haven't "modified" the helmet itself.

I'd say phone Motomate or bikerswarehouse and ask them. If you do get a price please post it here- so I know how careful I have to be when cleaning mine :)

I've recently been drawn into restoration type projects. Well, reading them. And yes, they are fascinating. I've sunk hours into it... :(
I actually went to motomate rivonia when mine broke they did not bother to direct me to the distributor, they wanted to sell me a new visor and said pin lock cannot be reused I'd have to buy another one. They said visors are not covered by the warranty.

Luckily as I left the store thinking I will never buy a shark helmet again, I met the guy from Langston motorsports making a delivery and he told me to visit the office to get more info.

Edit. Pin locks can be reused mine has been perfect since the visor replacement.

Ah. I recommended them cause the guy I spoke to at their clearance store told me that the Shark distributors are fantastic and replace the visors. At the time, I didn't really have any context, as my helmet was quite new still, but it still stuck.

Good Day

I'd like to query an apparent common flaw on the c-clip latch of the shark Skwal helmet visor.
It's been brought to my attention that this flaw has been recognized by Shark and replacements are being issued under warranty.

A friend has told me he was successful in getting a replacement through LangstonRacing for his visor.

Thank You
Regards

Hi Zuner,

Please could you come past our offices (In Midrand) so that we can inspect your helmet and replace you visor and side plate.

Kind regards

Wow, they took 3 minutes to reply.

I'll try and go there in my lunch tomorrow, though all my slips and warranty stuff is kept at my parents 100km away.

Maybe ask them to send pictures, they only need the number on the warranty card.
I cant find my warranty card/receipt anywhere :(
I don't even know where to start looking for mine. Never mind my parents finding it.

I'm only scheduled to visit the parents in 2 or 3 weeks.

Also, just realised I've had the bike and thus the helmet for 3 years in June. How time flies when you're having fun.

So I doubt they'll entertain me, but I'll pay them a visit tomorrow anyway.

One puts these things in the box when making expensive purchases.

Then you keep the box until the warranty is over.

That being said when I claimed multiple repairs on my Shark nobody from Langston ever asked me for either, but the bike shop in the middle of it maybe vouched for the invoice.

So I remember leaving the box because I was on my bike at the time (could only fit my old helmet in my front box) but I took all the contents and stored the slip etc, but I have moved since and as you can imagine in the process things can get misplaced.

It happens.

Still they might not be too full of crap or at least give you a discount.

I passed my licence test on Wednesday, so I'm now a fully legal rider. I will be rewarding myself with a new bike once I decide what I want, iv been test riding all kinds of bikes and can't make up my mind on the body style, let alone make an model.

Iv seen an 2014 Aprilia shiver 750 which I think is gorgeous to look at. Does anyone have any experience / comments on it or the Aprilia brand as a whole?

I value the opinion of you lot more than any salesman.

He can still read the warranty number on the strap so it's all good.

Strangely he says mine is the new mechanism but might be the older type visor.

Anyway I am good to go, really nice that the product has such good support, these guys are seriously good service wise!
