I passed my licence test on Wednesday, so I'm now a fully legal rider. I will be rewarding myself with a new bike once I decide what I want, iv been test riding all kinds of bikes and can't make up my mind on the body style, let alone make an model.

Iv seen an 2014 Aprilia shiver 750 which I think is gorgeous to look at. Does anyone have any experience / comments on it or the Aprilia brand as a whole?

I value the opinion of you lot more than any salesman.
Congrats man, welcome to the club.
Those Shivers are really pretty. No experience with one myself, though.

Congrats! I have been planning on going since I have someone who always wants to go for a ride, and I only have a learners.

Congrats bud!

A friend of mine rode the Pegaso a few years back. The bike itself was solid but he had some issues with aftersale service. It was some or other warranty claim that he struggled with if I recall correctly but it could have been an isolated incident.

I'd advise you to read some online reviews on the Shiver. Also search through posts on bike forums. Youtube has reviews on just about every make and model of bike. And then ask around about aftersale service on South African bike forums and Facebook groups. The folks over on www.wilddog.za.net are generally a helpful and knowledgable bunch in my experience.

Anyone know where I can get after market sprockets around the Joburg area for a Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG3, looking for slightly taller gearing for lower rpm long road cruising. I am planning on doing the pipe, air filter and rejetting the carb to compensate for the change in gearing. Stock is 15/43 with .428 pitch, the UG4 model comes with a 14/39 .520 pitch and id need to change the whole combo to make this work. The bike only has 1300km on the clock so I don't need to change the whole set, I could just change 1 of the sprockets either to a 16 front or a 40 rear if I can find one that will fit.

Try Kickstart (wyneberg or midrand)

Thanks guys, will probably need to strip the bike and take samples to make sure I get the right ones.

cool they should be able to help you out in my opinion, service is always pretty good there and even over email.

Thanks for the guidance, I'm not too concerned with after sales service, I have a local motorcycle workshop who are very helpful and knowledgeable on all brands so I intend to do repairs and services there. Im interested in reliability or common problems with the bike, info I can only get from someone who lived with one. I'll check what Google has to say if nothing major comes up I might go for it, it's such a pretty bike.

Yip, dealt with them many times for parts for my prev bike. Just emailed them and within a few minutes got a reply, need to take samples to try match up one that will fit.

Just got my visor replaced at Langston. Very friendly people great service.
No issues about slips, just got my warranty info from the strap as he did with Steamy.
The sticker on the visor had a label mentioning 5 year warranty. Which is what I recall when I bought the helmet, thinking "warranty lasts as long as i'm supposed to keep the helmet."

Glad you got it sorted, they are very helpful, pity they don't sell to the public.

I was so amped, the new one seems to be thicker also, I was really bummed at having to spend a grand on something like this :D

Yeah this was so awesome, my visor had developed some small chips, but in a line suggesting it wasn't from riding. Always annoyed me, now its all clean.
So scared to open and close from one side though. Also the sealing is better now too.

anybody in Jhb/Pta area thinking of joining?
