Where can I buy an antenna off the shelf? We have a lowish signal to start with (12%, I think), but when it rains, it drops to 2%, and we occasionally lose signal. I just want to improve the signal somewhat - nothing fancy.
I got one from the shop in Village Walk. The Pringles can should work but you have problems finidng the right cable and also the right sized washers.

Here's a woktenna that will also work: http://www.usbwifi.orcon.net.nz/

I also missed a few episodes, what's the deal with the tail & how'd they stop the Earth from being destroyed - last episode I saw there was memory loss & forgetting where the Black Dragon's Balls were

If anyone needs these slightly used antennas, we will both score, I will get rid of them and you will get them at a cheap price. R700 for the lot including all cables, pigtails etc. Other offers will be considered. Delivery only to my doorstep.

Dish antenna (500mm i think) - plus brackets, 10 m cable and pigtail. Got from reputable source. bdt
Cantenna - the original from the States
Patch anttenna - also the original:) from good old Village Walk

Bought a gas braai over xmas, so bit of a waste to use the dish as a scortle

what the hell was the black dragon balls? was it somehow linked to picalo? because he said they'll turn to stone when he dies?

ic, the earth got destroyed, but they wished it back...

where the hell did vegeta get a tail from? Wasn't it removed like goku's when he was little? Or maybe not...

If not, why didn't vegeta ever progress to the ape to f@ck up goku when they were still mortal enemies and vegeta had something to prove?

grrrr

This may be helpful to people looking at getting their hands on cheap antennas:

There is this guy in JHB (Louie) who has loads of Patch Antennas that he
sells for R60 each (excl vat). Only thing is that you have to buy
a minimum of 10.
He can be contacted on 083 5485449

Hi N??ne

Please watch the tone of your voice ,these antennas can indeed be helpful to fellow members in the forum.

you seem to have a lot of time available ?If you clean up your language ,I can share some of my tasks ,activities which you can perhaps earn some respects.I have many plans in my pockets, but insufficient time to realize them.

Noone, Dragonbal, Cannonball ...... it's the same *&*&^#$ if you ask me.
I'm just trying to get the stream back on track again :)

Maybe back in 1923 (when you were born) "hell" was foul language, not in 2005 baby.

And what do your activities have to do with me anyway?

oh, and typing a sh1tload faster than you + thinking at the light of speed + the fact that my job IS online... wait... why do I care?

I have a patch antenna for sale - make me an offer.

Alternatively you can get a patch antenna for about R300 if you don't want to fiddle around with old chip containers. Although many said that the patch antenna is useless, it completely sorted out a problem I was having with poor upload throughput, and even though the signal strength didn't improve much the quality of my connection was vastly improved - it seems it increases the quality of your return path signal which in turn increases the response time from the network.

If you want to buy one off the shelf there is a shop in Village Walk Sandton where you can get one immediately - don't know about the rest of the country - have a look at the nowire website, they list the shops.

i have a patch antenna that i want to sell. R300 good for anyone. brand new.

Hiya, so what version of "off the shelf" are you running? There's quite a range from the fairly directional 8dBi patch (up to 2.5m max cable), through some new ~3dBi omni product from Webb (can get from BBZ shops) with up to 5m cable length to a turnkey solution that you'd get as a kit and put up with somewhat more effort than the previous 2 options. For eg, robone's outgoing 40cm dish -there's 21dBi of highly directional antenna love going for a song.

As a bonus, the higher your starting point in clear weather the better off you are in a storm- at home I sit on ~40%sig and even when it's pretty much a wall of water out there with flash/bang lightning going on right above me I'm happily connected.

HTH -bdt

I finally got one the R165 omni-directional antennas from Nowire, and it's no help. I get no signal with it at all, unless I drape it a metre out of the window, when I get a worse signal than not using it at all. Ah, well....

Cut a hole in the middle of a pringles can and place it directly onto the modems antenna. My signal jumps 10% + using it this way. Forget about extra cables and washers

I have an even more brilliant solution... get rid of mywiresuck. #1 I have LOS of 5 towers, 2 to which I could connect to, and if I moved my modem not even 1 centimeter, I'd lose all signal and struggle to connect again. (Accidently kicking the table on where it stood had the same effect)
