Does anyone have experience with Telkom's new "naked ADSL"? I would really appreciate any feedback. Is it worth it? Is the speed good, etc?

(p.s. I would love to have fibre but that is not an option at the moment as I stay in a complex with an unaccommodating managing agent).

Naked ADSL is exactly the same as ADSL, just don't need to pay the line rental for the analogue phone line when you order it..

Management agent does not decide whether your complex gets fibre or not, the trustees do that.. the management agent does what the trustees ask of it, whilst making sure the complex affairs are handled according to sectional title law etc..

I spoke to Telkom earlier today. The call centre lady said its only for new customers.
If I want Naked ADSL, I have to cancel and reply.

There is no logic in this process. but then again it is telkom.

The year is 2020 and telkom can't migrate its own clients to other packages, they want you to place notice to cancel before ordeing the product. BRAVO HELKOM

If you're already using ADSL I think they just automatically stop charging you line rental at some point. I haven't been billed for line rental by Telkom for about two months now.

I wish - they're still charging me

Possibly due to the extras you have there. I was only paying for line rental and not closer etc. As far as I'm aware naked ADSL only applies if you don't use the line to make or receive calls.

To be clear, I'm still getting an invoice for the R210 line rental but it shows a refund of R210 for a "service interruption credit". Might just be an error on their part but either way, I haven't paid anything besides what I pay to Afrihost and have had no service interruptions. In fact, my line has been super stable now that a lot of others in the area are on Fibre.

I contacted Telkom and have been told that naked dsl is not available and they also demanded that I can't take a dsl line on month to month basis I must take a contract of 24 months. They weren't even aware of naked dsl. I also contacted Telkom's social support team and they were not aware of it either. Typical.

1.Well when you call them, ask to speak to a Team leader from the jump and say its because of poor service your received from previous agent
2. Ask the Team Leader to go online and show him the deal you are talking about. Don't mention the term naked ADSL.
3. Tell them as they have it is available online and your area has the coverage, thats the deal you want. If they object ask them where is it on their website does it state you can't get it.
The T&Cs are very clear online, unless you are still within a contract, i dont see why they wont offer you such a service.

I decided to wait till Afrihost or Axxess or someone else has naked dsl.

If you don't have fibre or 5g is worth it.

Still waiting for them to come and install.

Vox is R875 and telkom is R899 for 40mps

Think afrihost will be similar.

I actually stopped receiving Telkom emails reminding me to pay the R210pm, my VDSL is with Afrihost.
Will see next month.

After 16 years, we get naked adsl (lol). But now ADSL is discontinued ... makes me laugh.

I got my email yesterday, and they refused to cancel my voice line as I have an ADSL line with Afrihost. Absolutely shameless company.
