'Nationalise Motsepe's wealth'

While you all are looking for a better system, hows about we stay with the one we have now. There's a knocking noise in the engine sure, but it is currently getting us around. You want us to throw it away and take a new system that we know does not work. Where is the sense in that?

A thought on the rich affording better lawyers, Nothing in the actual law changes, a cheap lawyer has access to the same laws as the rich man lawyer.

Further, a rich man on trial for something that he did not do, gets off because the law says so. The same for a poor man, at least that is the way the law is supposed to work. I don't see how being rich and innocent and poor and innocent are different. Or are all rich folk who are hauled into court guilty of something and should be punished.

Lastly, these yapping dogs in the commie club, they would not be shouting as loud if their name was sexwhale.

The current system isn't working, that's the point. How can you label a system as working if the result is that people are still poor and the inequality between rich and poor is increasing... And I'm not saying tear down the current system totally, modify it to take into account the problems we have...

The current situation is not sustainable. You can only tell poor people 'Hold on, we're working on helping you' for so long while they watch as the rich folk fly around the world, eat at fancy restaurants etc. Who cares how they got there (the rich folk), all that matters is that a few prosper while most suffer, that can never be a fair and just world... The end result is still the same as when we had kings and queens...

In terms of lawyers, lawyers are part of a capitalist system here... which means that the better and more skilled a lawyer you are, the more you'll get paid, isn't that the point of capitalism... sure, the judge might not be biased, but the richer guy definitely has a better way of defending himself...

Judging by the common attitude of a LOT of people today, any method that does not contain capitalism will fail. Look at America and England and their welfare systems, it has gotten so bad that people actually ASPIRE to go on welfare! If the incentives, as someone mentioned previously, which is more personal wealth, better living conditions and better life style are removed, society will degrade into people that sit around all day and just say feedme.

I don't disagree that we need to uplift the poor, but dragging everyone down to their level is not upliftment, it's destruction.

I'm not saying drag everyone down... what I'm actually saying is this... Let us richer folk, the 'educated' people of this world, those that have access to the internet and cars and education etc., find a solution to the problems we face before the masses decide to find one for themselves..... Capitalism is working? Who is it working for in this country? I love it, it does work for me... but I find it hard to believe that the majority of people in this country would agree with me... and I know if I, as someone who's benefited from capitalism, doesn't help to empower the masses, then the masses are going to empower themselves and it's going to be at my (and your) expense... and it's something that doesn't just affect SA, the UK is facing a large increase in crime (for example), I believe fully that its due to increasing inequities between rich and poor.

Watching Morning Live this morning, and there's Sexwale on TV, going on about tearing down the bad RDP houses, tracing the corruption and nepotism that lead to it and replacing them with decent homes. Very nice, Tokyo, give em hell.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds, NUMSA

Saw that too. On the news last night he said that when he found these people there will be no paid suspension for these people.:D!!

Also like the questions he asked about the Cape Dutch houses. He is peed off at people exploiting others:D

R800 million wasted by the ANC on these housing disasters.

I do agree with what you say but money does make a difference wrt lawyers. To use the recent Lotz trial as an example, everybody that followed the trial thought the boyfriend killed his girlfriend, the evidence were also against him or so we thought... but, the boyfriend's parents had the money to hire various experts from the USA/UK, which in the end helped to create reasonable doubt, and the boyfriend was found innocent.

The defense cost was more than R10m but he was found innocent in the end. If they did not have the money available to them he might not have been so lucky.

Also followed this for a short while but then had to go. What was Tokyo's answer to who will have to pay for the construction of these new RDP houses and what will be the cost ?

Your view is the more moderate view but that is not what these people want.

Morally, we should be helping the poor but at the same time, you can't assist others when your bitter about hard earned money being used by people who sit around all day doing nothing. People are trying to find solutions to help and people are contributingto help the problems but a lot of those funds are being used for other means or just plain stolen. Sexwale's press release as I mentioned earlier is a prime example, money going to line pockets and not to help. That is what needs to be stopped. Stop all the corruption before milking the golden calf empty.

For example: I detest the fact that they have extended the child care grant to 14 year old kids. At 14 , you should not be having a child. You should not be having a child if you can't afford to have a child! Contraception is pretty much free in this country and can be used. I'm not talking about rape victims etc, I'm talking about people who either do it willingly or just don't care. And sadly, there are people who will do it just for the money, not thinking about the consequence that it is a grant meant to subsidize your income. Not to live off of and be the whole income.

We will have to pay. And the cost was something like 300mil to repair, or thats what I heard on the radio while driving to work.

Fine, he wants to help. But why didnt they employ the right guys in the start....because of kickbacks., thats why.

Get a nice kickback, (Not Sexwhale) but whoever else signed the deal. Fat kickback, cheaply built bad housing complexes jump up, all involved makes nice fat bucks. And a few years down the line the Working Class has to once again fork out more money.

Needless to say, we, the working class, is getting bled dry....but how long ? :(

He did not say. But take a guess? It will be you the Tax payer:erm:

HE was mostly talking about the steps he will take against these people that are corrupt. Those in the government and those in private sectors.

He said something like 800 government officials has already been caught and are in the process of being prosecuted.

And then? Slap on the wrist, cough in jail and get out?

There is no true punishment for the corrupt in this country and that kills me. People bugger up and corruption is rife in the world, But at least there is some degree of punishment in the rest of the world...well the "Western World". Not so much here.

Like I said Sex Wale said he will not go lightly on then. I think he might not be so popular with in the ANC by next year this time:D

:eek::eek:

Must be good to be a lawyer.
I think he meant over all not just with the housing thing. He did not say though.

My guess as well.

But all 800 of those being prosecuted will need a lawyer, thus lawyers will be making money :)

5FM news:

Sex Wale just said It is ridicules to want to nationalize the wealthy people

I'd hope for a seizure of assets or something and take the cost out. A bit of "community service" helping build the houses that they were supposed to would also go down well with me.

Well this is in spite of their racist social engineering initiatives (AA/BEE) so they can't really complain about it but I'm sure they'll still find a way to blame Apartheid. Are those nominal or real figures?
Maybe some reality check is required of the AA/BEE whiners?
White workers on average still earned 5.5 times more than black workers, according to a new employment report released on Thursday.
Start here...

So it is wrong to work harder get an increase and help the ecconomy?

Where I work there are levels and everybody on a level 6 earn round about the same just depending on performance.

And no matter what I do I still earn the least. And we are 5 african people and 2 white.

Would you like to work harder for effectively less? Remember as your pay scale goes up the tax bracket goes up, technicaly the more rewarded for the harder you work the more is taken from you in taxes.

My mother luckily got an increase this year... but her salary dropped in net as it pushed her into a higher tax than before which ate the increase plus a bit extra. Fair right?

Not moaning at you Mila, just in general. I like to think my hard work improves the company I work for , allowing them to generate more jobs, feed more families and give back more to the community with social responsibilities. By the same token I have the right to uplift my family before others as without my contribution, others will not get.

Looks like you fell behind the other white folk:)
And the fact that white people earn more (as per the report) is there to indicate that inequalities of the dark days still exist in some areas of industry. <blame word's> legacy is going to be with us for a while yet no matter what people would have us believe.

Edit: White people earn more mainly because they control the economy... they dominate the financial sector & senior management in many areas of the economy.
