Hey mybb community,

I require a smallish vehicle.I prefer driving a hatch back and my budget is R100 000.

N.b I do not want a polo vivo or any other vw.I like the up but doesn't have enough bootspace and 2 door cars won't be suitable.

The cars are am considering are : Opel corsa,Ford figo,Ford fiesta and Suzuki Swift.

It has become very difficult to choose because I have read a few threads on mybb regarding ownership and it has just confused me.

I threads have given me the impression that the Suzuki 1.2 is unsafe,Ford figo is heavy on petrol,Suzuki parts are expensive and come with a waiting period and Opel has electrical problems.

What mileage should I consider in a used car.I obviously don't want something with 300 000 km on the clock but what is appropriate milage for a used vehicle ?

N.b Mr postmanpot I don't want an Audi from 10 years ago.

I just need a hatchback that drives well and isn't too old.I am considering cars from 2010.

I want a car that is confident around corners and is fun to drive.I will therefore be excluding any Kia,Hyundai and Toyota. The numb steering wheel feedback, uncertainty around corners and overall boring drive is a turn off.

I have been looking on Auto trader so far and cars seems to be cheaper at these no name brand dealerships.I am familiar with the likes of automark,GM,cmh,McCarthy, etc.
Am I being to fussy regarding which dealership I am keen on?

Cheers

Figo heavy on petrol?

Look at the 2010+ Fiestas.

The figo is heavy on fuel according to previous mybb threads.

The fiesta seems nice but I am struggling to find it below R100 000 at a reputable dealership.I haven't even heard of Funnel Cars or Kent Motors.

I am taking delivery of a 2012 Ford Figo 1.4 with 76000KM on the clock on Friday, will let you know next week how the economy is. car is in perfect condition, I bought it from County Ford in Goodwood. They are part of the Novel Group.

Some find the Ford Figo DIESEL heavy on DIESEL in the those threads.

Highway only driving (110km/h) I get 6.0l/100km, urban only more like 7.5l to 8l/100km.

Why not a Daihatsu Sirion :P

There is one dude somewhere here who created like 3 threads about it. Lots of people commented on how good a car it is.

I chose the I20 1.6 GLS ,you should at-least go test drive it. (yes i know you said Hyundai is boring)

5 star safety rating and 91KW under the bonnet!

I drove a few cars as I was also looking for hatchback for around 100k. The i20 1.6 GLS as one of the best ones in terms of what you get for your money.

Ford Fiesta seems to meet your requirements.
The Swift it feels very nimble and quick around corners, so it's great fun to drive. It's almost as fun to drive as the superb Ford Fiesta, which leads the class in this respect.

What about Mazda2, a sprightly performer, while agile handling adds to the fun.
Although the Mazda2 doesn't quite knock the Ford Fiesta off as the most fun-to-drive car in this class, it gets pretty close.

According Suzuki SA, the 1.2 Swift is Latin American export specification version. The Global NCAP test conducted on the export model, as sold in SA, resulted in a three-star rating. Even better is the European-spec Swift, which received a five-star Euro NCAP rating and this version is likely similar to the 1.5 - 1.4-litre and Sport models sold in South Africa, which also boast six airbags.

I'm pretty sure OP said
"N.b I do not want a polo vivo or any other vw."

No disrespect to i20 owners but kilowatt rating is very much relative. Some cars with eg. 91kw may feel actually slower than one with eg. 77kw.

Many factors at play & of course perception.

And of course raw kW's not everything
