Hi all,

This weekend my Razer Imperator died on me. Now suddenly Windows plays its "usb device added" sound, followed by maybe a few seconds of mouse working, followed by the "usb device removed" sound. It does this over and over and over...

This was my second Razer mouse, and I feel I will not buy another Razer product again. It seems they have a lot of hype around a perceived quality that just isn't there. My other Razer mouse basically just fell apart after a year and a bit (rubber started peeling off everywhere, mouse wheel rubber came loose).

I would like a quality gaming mouse that can last for many years, and would prefer one that requires a palm grip (not claw/finger tip grip). I also like so have side-buttons (one on each side) for various reasons, depending on the application. I primarily play RPG and RTS games.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated! I wouldn't like to spend a lot of money on something that is utter garbish again.

I'm very picky about my gaming mouse. My brother got sponsored a Roccat Savu which he gave to me.

Forced myself to adjust and now I love it, never had an issue. Only problem according to your needs is it has 2 thumb buttons only - not one on either side. Been using it 2.5 years now and still going strong. At R650, its a great value-to-price mouse - IMO.

Got myself the new Logitech G402 mouse at takealot. I highly recommend this mouse and they have a special at takealot at the moment.

I had a mx518 previously that lasted me for 4 years then I got a Razor imperator and it lasted 4 months. The Logitech G402 is a really solid mouse and its got a build in arm processor for tracking.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

I'll make a list of the mouses, and go check them out for myself.

I find it interesting that I'm not the only one with Razer quality problems.

Razer has always made things that look nice, but have software issues, or don't last very long.

Doesn't mean that I don't miss my razer keyboard with scissor keys though. :(

I have had Razer mice for the past about ten years and have personally never had a day's issues.
Been using a Lachesis for the past 4 years, no hassles.
Before that I had a Mamba, which I upgraded to the Lachesis.
Gave that to a friend's younger brother, he is actually still using it.

I must say, I have been looking at the R.A.T 7 or 9 for a while now........
