I had a Jack Russell that slept between my legs with her head on my bum. She also tried to bite my father once for waking me up :p

This is how they're meant to be. Ours yesterday morning - well one of them, the other one was tucked even further away...

As far as I'm concerned, the owner of the dog can do just as he wish; unless the owner directly inflicts torture then it really is nobody else's business how good or bad an owner (s)he is.

They were bread to be hunting dogs - that's what they're meant to be doing.

So just turn a blind eye to the suffering of an animal because the harm caused isn't directly inflicted? Ownsership of an animal doesn't imply a right to treat it as you please.

Poor thing. I have a JR as well and she's only allowed in the house when I'm home otherwise she tramples mud all over the couches and bed by the time I get home. But she has a house with blankets outside and she's got winter jerseys. Most days I get home to find she's managed to get out of the jersey. Please definitely take over a warm blanket or bed and tell them it's a gift for their dog. Some people need reminders sometimes. Do you know if they leave water out for it? I notice my dog drinks more water during colder days.

Only people I know that have dogs that sleep inside, dont have children.Dogs have been sleeping outside for roughly 40 000 years.They should be fine if they are a hardy species like husky and alsation, not sure about these new handbag type miniature dogs, but those people probably let the dog sleep inside.

SPCA won't do anything because we are sectional title complex. BC just send letters that are ignored.

You almost wish someone could lock them out of their house for a day and night just so they could learn how it feels.

:D Mine for some reason likes sleeping with her bum to my face and very often lets out these really disgusting farts. Then she looks all innocent when I'm disgusted with her.

Make sure you bring the Guinea Fowl and field mice with their frail little bodies indoor every night as well :p

Letting a dog sleep inside, putting on a jacket and wrapping him in 20 layers of fine Egyptian cotton is human emotion at play. You are cold so therefor the dog must be cold. Meanwhile they probably handle the cold way better than us (miniature handbag rats aside).

...not that ours don't have their blankets and stuff in their dog houses (or boxes in the garage).

But you can see them shivering :confused: it's not just a person being emotional.
 
Our dogs have always slept in doors. None of them have ever liked dog houses. Have had jack russels and golden retrievers, both preferred the comforts of the couch to the outdoors ;P

I've never seen a jack russell shiver other than out of pure adrenaline/excitement. But then I've never left one out when it is 2 degrees outside.

My dumb thing has his own bedroom, bed and all, but guaranteed 6am rain, hail, snow, -100C he's at the gates sitting, shaking and patiently waiting for dog walkers etc to come by. In storms he'll sit waiting with his eyes closed, getting drenched. He knows who walks by when, and he waits regardless of weather. So, I guess someone walking/driving by would see 'oh the poor puppy is outside in the cold, owners a bastard etc', little do they know its his choice and the spoilt brat has free reign and could stay in bed all day if he chooses.
