Neighbor's doggy

People tend to forget that many dogs today have had the "proper tough dog" bred out of them through the ages. So, "no" they're not as tough as they were 40k years ago. (Note, I didn't say all dogs, but most.)
There's no way a JR should be spending the nights outside -especially with the 0 to - degrees going on right now - unless they have proper warm shelter.
Those neighbors should not own dogs.

In another 40000 years they will loose all traits that we domesticated them for in the first place.But the world is changing and dogs are recognized as companions more so than security now.I know dogs help people and ex marines with PTSD.

How would one tell if a dog is cold?I've never seen mine shiver even when soaked(Husky doesnt want to stay in her kennel when it rains, prefers to play in the rain rather)
 
My Zeus sleeps outside (he is a Pekingese crossed with something else). He pelt has grown long and thick for the winter.

He sleeps on a blanket that's folded 4 times on the veranda. He doesn't want to sleep in the green plastic kennel that came with him anymore.

I'm thinking of getting a wicker dog basket for him to sleep in, will but his blanket in there, warmer then on the sides as well.

Agreed.

Huskies are a different ballgame altogether. They obviously prefer the cold. A friend of mine had a Husky, couldn't keep her inside and -as you said - loved it out in the rain and cold.

My JR on the other hand, shivers when she gets cold. Also sleeps under the covers around my legs -definitely seems to be a Jack thing :D

Anyway, hope the dog finds a new home with people who actually care about it. :o
 
My dog had the option to come in this morning, but chose to stay outdoors until I eventually called her in. She's a long-coat White Swiss Shepherd who seems to be much happier in the winter cold than in the summer heat. In the summer she only sleeps well if there's a fan blowing on her.
 
I was considering asking the people if they wanna give the dog away. But I don't know anybody that can take her

They do not deserve to have a dog.

? I let my dogs sleep inside, and by no means are "new handbag type miniature dogs", it's 2 Boerboels, weighing 74KG and 62KG respectively. I have a 7 month old son and I cannot imagine my dogs outside while he plays inside, they like to play together. We have wooden floors, yes they are heavy and sometimes they wake the baby, but hey, tough *****, we deal with it and he goes back to sleep.

As a previous posted mentioned, I believe kids growing up besides dogs in the house have better immune systems...

Feel free to munch on your beef burger or leave your dog out. I don't pretend to give a **** about any domesticated animal but my cat :whistle:
