Neighbor's doggy

My dogs do not have blankets in their kennels. I use hay. The blankets don't last 1 day with them, They tear it to shreds.

+1 mine has a heater in her kennel. Perhaps make sure they don't have some such set up?

? I let my dogs sleep inside, and by no means are "new handbag type miniature dogs", it's 2 Boerboels, weighing 74KG and 62KG respectively. I have a 7 month old son and I cannot imagine my dogs outside while he plays inside, they like to play together. We have wooden floors, yes they are heavy and sometimes they wake the baby, but hey, tough *****, we deal with it and he goes back to sleep.

As a previous posted mentioned, I believe kids growing up besides dogs in the house have better immune systems...

My basset likes to go in our 6 month olds room and bark at 02h00 to try and get him to play. Do you know how loud a basset is? But we don't make her sleep out side. We just call her and she comes back to our room. So yeah we deal with it too.

THose dogs are massive, I really feel for the person who has to pickup their poops lol - my neighbour also has 2 boerbulls who sleep inside...hmmmmm
THe best place for the kid to get a better immune system is a creche.Trust me on that.

You guys are really tolerating of dogs waking up your sleeping babies.I could never do that.

Our German Shepherds are outdoor dogs and apparently should be fairly comfortable down to 3 degree temperatures as long as they are dry, however, they still have ample shelter and blankets. It seems quite cruel to leave a small dog outdoors like that, especially if it is obviously uncomfortably cold.

Indeed so, my 2 don't wake him knowingly, they know what is waiting for them should they come out the room, but do have a place mat in front of the crib where they sleep most nights!

Yea, they are quite big, but they act like 2 lapdogs, they really don't know their own size... That person is me :( And they don't go just once, it's normally 2 or 3 times PER doggy.

My dog is my baby :p

Indeed, and that's what most people don't understand, for the 1st year to 2 years of their lives they were treated like our babies (and still gets treated like it, just a little scaled down). But don't get me wrong, I won't tolerate it when they start barking at each other or doing something on purpose to get my, my wife or our son's attention. They get attention when we give it to them. Have to set some boundaries, otherwise they do as they please...

Was cold last night. This is how my 3 were rolling...

This...

Only people I know that have dogs that sleep inside, dont have children.Dogs have been sleeping outside for roughly 40 000 years. They should be fine if they are a hardy species like husky and alsation, not sure about these new handbag type miniature dogs, but those people probably let the dog sleep inside.

Dogs are pack animals, you will expect to find more than 2 together, which means that they use each other's body heat to keep warm if need be. One dog alone will freeze, it needs at least some form of shelter like a kennel.

hmm...I don't know. I feel like, you adopted your pet...you are his/her parent and should be giving it enough attention.
