NeoFlex available next week

Im still worried over the billing system. No use selling you 10GB, but charging you for 17GB. That is theft, and it is a big concern for me.

I agree, to a degree.
Thing is that Neotel's national fibre runs on speeds of 1GB, if I'm not mistaken. They have the backhaul capacity to run CDMA2000 sucessfully, just don't have a submarine cable that can back it up.
That's where Seacom comes in later this year.
If Neotel get their act together, expand coverage and put up towers, then they should be good.
If not. They're in for kuk. Because as soon as Seacom lands and is operative. The rest of the competition is going to blow Neotel out of the water. (This is me being optimisitic :rolleyes: )
Why I say this, is because, VC and MTN specifically.
Already have a national network for 3G.
And if market speculation is correct on "extended caps for the same price", then Neotel is going to be left in the wake of the 2 major cellular operator's data network.
All VC and MTN have to do is plug into Seacom's "reduced wholesale goodness" and market away. The infrastructure and coverage is already there. Seacom will only compliment their network.

So Neotel catch a wake up and get moving!

You had press releases for the end of November, as far as Neoflex is concerned.
November came and went, with no word from you lot.
So don't try to feed me this BS!
If the holiday season necessitated a January release date, your planning and PR is up to kuk.
Wipe those eggs from your face and get serious - AND HONEST!

I have the same problem Pope. All around me has good coverage, and there a patch just over my house and couple other places that have NO coverage. Sure I will catch something, but saying that still lil worried. . .
 
Guys check the coverage map again, i had no coverage in november, now i've got yay!:D
 
what I dont understand... why have a uncapped version on prime but not on flex. What is the difference between the two? Does it all have to do with a contract?

Well, whatever the criticisms, this is yet another positive step towards better broadband. I doubt Telkom are suddenly going to drop ADSL prices, as the coverage of Neotel is still a bit spotty. I'm sure the ethernet device will entice far more people, as well as small business networks and so on, which then may lead Telkom to look at things, but unless the uptake is strong, Telkom will just shrug it off for now.

Anyway, I'm glad this is happening. One small step forward.

Agreed. Neotel is lifting the bar when it comes to caps...they make 10GB/15GB the default, unlike the 1,2 and 3 GB we became used to. This is what was needed and I commend them for that.

I really have no idea, but I think the price may be in the region of R 600 for 10GB/15GB based on the NeoConnect pricing. This will be significantly cheaper than any standard Telkom/Vodacom/MTN/iBurst offering with the same speed and usage limit.

Im still confused if its wireless or wired. But i think its a similar system to that Jawug and ptawug, where you have an anntena on your roof and aims LOS to a high point, i could be wrong, but thats why i would imagine theres higher latency.

I use Emburst with this anntena system but get higher latency than normal wired
 
They will probly launch uncapped in June when seacom lands, at the moment having uncapped at a reasonable price could cost them a bit when to many people discover torrents :D In june they will have more bandwidth than they know what to do with, so no reason to not release decent priced uncapped then..
