Could the Neotel rep maybe advise how things are going in Cape Town? You guys "launched" here in July already but I've yet to meet one real live person who's actually got coverage? Any news on Southern Suburbs especially?

Hi Guys, just wanted to let you know I launched a Global product! Yup, Worldwide. You can find it on the corner of these two streets and in one other back alley...

</sarcasm>

Come now Neotel, why lie to us? Why not go to the press and state: "Neotel launches in 3 suburbs in Cape Town. More coverage expected imminently..."?

Guys, Neotel launched yes, and since the launch, I've seen their workers all over digging up holes everywhere.

Clearly they are trying.

You guys are just BLOODY inpatient... just like me... I also have no coverage in my area, but they are coming... just be patient... it's not like they not doing anything.

I mean, drive around town and you'll see signs everywhere 'Neotel working' so at least they are visible etc.

While I agree with this, I don't agree with Neotel "shouting" about their non existing coverage.

If you say "We cover Cape Town" then bloody hell cover "Cape Town", not 5% of Cape Town

Anyway, even when they cover my area I don't think I will jump ship just yet. I need a low latency solution, and their product does not fit the bill. :(

I'm the same, I play online games, right now, besides it being uncapped, Neotel's products aren't for me... not unless I want to be banned from every freaking server for having 20000000ms+ pings :)

But having said that, thus waiting is a good thing, they might come out with other products that = the prime thingy :)

I know of trenches that were dug in the southern suburbs more than 18 months ago and still there is no coverage.

For trenches being dug now, will we need to wait another 18 months before the fiber in them are put to use?

Something is seriously wrong with the coverage roll-out in Cape Town.

Neotel has been digging a great many trenches of late and so long as you stand inside one of these trenches coverage is excellent.

Lol, couldn't resist ;)

Techie will come TODAY to bring the device. I'm in Table View, and although they claim to only cover Killarney Gardens and up to Potsdam Rd, the sales person had 3 bars signal in my study so they finally gave in and accepted to hook me up.

\o/ YAY \o/

Ditto!
Also in the Southern Suburbs and still waiting for miracles.
Im on my last day of the vodacom 2gig bundle and am fed up of recharging with another expensive R390 bundle.
Going on a internet boycott.
I think we have every right to be impatient, cos i for one am sick of the 2gig deal as these prices are ridiculous if you're not earning a packet!

HURRY UP NEOTEL COS TELKOM 3G WILL PROBABLY BE THE SAME PRICE AS YOUR OFFERING AND WHOEVER OFFERS THEIR SERVICES TO ME QUICKER WILL HAVE MY MONEY!

There is the rocket[you know what to do with it].

Well their in Somerset West and I got mine (today). Coverage is excellent considering that my flat is technically the limit of their Prime package. I'm also using it behind two thick walls - 51 to 70 kbps. Now I can give my works iBurst back to them - best speed was 48kpbs.

Saw them working hard yesterday by Lord Charles on extending coverage. There are many areas around here that can't even get DSL, but will get Neotel soon.

You mean KBps surely as 51kbps is dial-up

Neotel Rep, any news on further CPT coverage?
just phoned them, they expect about another 30 areas in the cape to be covered before year end, and still many more after that.

Yet I don't see any no new areas in the past few months.

Perhaps they are first laying all the cable then putting up the base stations, seeing that the Rev A devices are coming in October, which is probably when you will see more coverage as they catch more of those customers.

May be an effort from their side on QoS, an interesting one, but still, i so want coverage ASAP

I won't switch to ibust just yet
