Neotel network speed degradation update

WhoooHooo

Neotel..I'm starting to love you again...

Been 24HR now and speeds still great!!! Still avarage of around 1.8mb
Still getting over 2mb/s a lot of the time...

Centurion area..So, whatever they did..please leave it alone now..

well at least i know who is sucking all my speed away :)

Our line here in Gardens Cape Town is now slower than ever.

Can someone please assist us!?

I'm reaching a point where I am actually going to PM Neotel and ask him to send me a cancellation request form.
I'm actually sick of this.
I'm always so nice and patient - and the only results I see are my stuff getting worse and worse.

Yip, and when it does get better it doesn't last very long. Have had the "pleasure" of these experiences since neotel opened its doors.

After about a Kg of hair loss (yes i am bald now) Finally gave in, only to find out that the process and difficulty of cancelling has resulted in me now being... well... hairless from head to toe.

Unfortunately, reliability is not Neotel's strong point right now... come to think of it, the only positive thing I have to say about Neotel is that they have finally got a decent and helpfull (to the best of his abilities) rep on the forums.

Hi all,

As mentioned before there is a second phase of optimisation that is going to occur in the coming weeks. I cannot release the schedule until it has been confirmed - which I anticipate to have published on here by Friday latest.

Just thought I'd post if the "official" speed thread. My speeds are still declining. Latency is now unbearable. I'm having over 70% packet loss and packets that do get through have an latency over 1000ms.

Going to try to reposition my antenna tomorrow to see if another tower will give me an better RSSI and speeds.

Bedfordview, up and down but more down than up, my people are giving me hell at the moment.

Neoflex by the way.

Neoconnect Prime

RSSI 71
Down 1148 kbps
Up 69 kbps
Latency 454 ms

MUUUUCH better than last night... seems about normal again (holding thumbs). It appears i may have jumped the gun a little this morning... my bad.

Sunninghill, Prime
Download Speed: 156 kbps (19.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 29 kbps (3.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
RSSI 100
PN 360
Another candidate for second phase of optimisation!

10kb/s downloads (max speed)

MSN Messenger / Google Talk keeps signing out and signing in.

Keep it up Neotel... might as well FRACKING NOT GIVE ME ANYTHING FOR F SAKE!

One of the problems, and the reason why we shouldnt really expect top class service yet, is that the majority of people who have Neotel at the moment are the early adapters.
A new technology generally follows a curve like this: http://nooperation.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/03/10/curve.jpg
The geeks are normally first to the new technology, the disadvantage of this with an ISP is that we normally the ones that download a lot, trying to get the full use out of our connection. What needs to happen is the late comers need to start using Neotel, the ones that just use their connection to check email, and general browsing.
I understand that its fully frustrating, and probably will be for a few months, but I think the quality of service should be ever improving.
