Neotel network speed degradation update

haha yea well, if neotel can build a bridge over it, then we'll be styling!

One of the problems, and the reason why we shouldnt really expect top class service yet, is that the majority of people who have Neotel at the moment are the early adapters.
A new technology generally follows a curve like this: http://nooperation.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/03/10/curve.jpg
The geeks are normally first to the new technology, the disadvantage of this with an ISP is that we normally the ones that download a lot, trying to get the full use out of our connection. What needs to happen is the late comers need to start using Neotel, the ones that just use their connection to check email, and general browsing.
I understand that its fully frustrating, and probably will be for a few months, but I think the quality of service should be ever improving.

Tell that to all the Businesses that are currently also experiencing issues, see what they say about it, and the service is actually just getting worse and worse by the day. Not improving.

Just when you think it couldnt' get any worse... I get proven that yes buddy... it can.
My modem goes into "1X" mode and yeah... if things got any slower - I would be using 28.8k modem.

It's bouncing between 200 and 150!

I seriously think I'm dreaming here.
Or the coke I was drinking was like... really cocaine.

OK..I should have known better!
At least i was happy for the best part of 24HR's
Neotel..You suck again!!!!
So the game continues..I love you..You Suck...I love you..You Suck..I Love You..YOU SUCK..

Back to the old slow speeds again..
NEOTEL.. What are you doing?????????????????

Uploads faster than downloads again..I just don't understand how things can run so well for a period and then just all of a sudden break down again..
Neotel, i think you should really fire your current technical team and get a new one as it becomes clear now that they do not have a clue what they are doing but rather running on trial and error!!!

Ag, I'm not going to bother getting excited... will probably stop by 12 or tomorrow and then I'll feel all let down again.

Thats is so funny!!...maybe I need to start dreaming as my download speeds are still sitting at, wait wait....under a 100kbs, this is terrible, I am posting this using my 3G card as I can not even browse the internet using the supper fast minimum 300 kbps neotel connection of mine....

Non existent support, empty promises, I hope they resolve these problems.....

@neotel - This is exactly why I didn't want to give you my contact details. Empty !@#$!@#$ promises. Can you put the cancellation form up somewhere where everyone can download it? Or you can send it to me and I will host it somewhere?

I warned you before I gave you my contact details that I will not be messed around. I should have known that the "isolated to a few users" story was a load of crap. I mean really. Most of the people on the forum come from some sort of IT background. Now you come here and try and sell your bull to IT people? How dare you?

Take charge of your incompetent technical team. You cannot have somebody sit and try and try and try until something goes right. You need someone with experience in this field. Make a few calls if you have to. Don't be afraid that you will look stupid if you ask for help. You are looking stupid without the help.

Your constant inability to provide details on the fixes and dates of fixes just proves my point. The person in charge of this doesn't have a bloody clue.

UPDATE:

My service is back to Zero again, and incomming and outgoing calls do not work.

Cannot connect to the Internet, and have zero signal.

Only difference between yesterday morning and today, is that the device changes from 1X to EVDO.

@ zerofocus:

I instructed the engineer not to call you before 4pm (as you stated). He did provide feedback to me which indicated that you were currently logged on and downloading content.

We have put a trace on your service so that we could monitor your connections behaviour over a longer period - so work is being done - and this applies to those isolated reports that I have received on this forum.

I prefer not to report on events that do not make a difference to the customers experience and would rather report / feedback concrete results instead.

As for cancellations; all that is required is a letter from you stating that you wish to cancel your service. This can be emailed to [email protected]. Please remember that cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions set out in the contract that you signed.

@ JMRHOWES:

When I left the office last night, engineers were still at the Randburg base station working on your problem. They did indicate that they need to be @ your premises with you to further ensure that the changes made were effective - I was informed that they did contact you regarding scheduling a suitable time.

@Neotel

When I left my flat this morning, my connection was doing 100± KB/s.
I checked up on the history and it was doing above that all night - sometimes peaking at 200 KB/s

That is what I have been waiting for and I am finally happy.

Now I only have 1 more request... CAN IT STAY THAT WAY PLEASE?!?!? :)

Well I have seen improvement and am over the moon to be honest. Im getting a stable speed of between 140K/s and 150K/s with it reach a short top speed of 170K/s +. Thank you Neotel rep. Im starting a to feel a bit better. If the service could always be like this Neotel can make headway.

Style

Hi,

You are mistaken, They did not contact me after the initial call, when they said they would go to the base station, Alfred called in the afternoon to say the phone now rings.. and he would call me later.

He never did.

Could everyone please update their locations under the User CP? It's tough to keep track of where people are getting better performance or not.

I'm just worried this is a short term fix.

But I guess, time will tell...

I was thinking of buying a few games via Steam - but then it hit me, If I do buy some legal games, downloading 8GB will take forever :( Now at least, it will take less than forever.

All I want is to be kept up to date. At no time did you mention they were busy monitoring my connection? How could I possibly have known that?
