Neotel network speed degradation update

why dont ull just use torrents? They work awfully well for me when signal actually works even when i restrict upload speed to 1KB/s

Torrents

Nobody wants to invite me onto SA news or torrent, so im stuck with MU and RS :(

Dude Try either Bittorrent or VUZE I can send you the setup files for both, plus some really handy torrent sites for you to find your goodies :D

@Neotel rep, thanks for popping your head here.
Useful information would be as to when your company intends to resolve the speed issues?
I'm still not seeing any improvement 20Kb on PN160 - sort out your issues and provide us with some honest feedback.

I had also experienced the problem of my signal and RSSI getting worse with time, so i just got on my roof and adjusted my external arial, i discovered that i could pick up another tower with a much better RSSI and signal than i had before. everything is still going great. (external arial is now pointing the totaly opposite direction than when it was first installed)

Very happy with it. I've been getting a decent average of 97kB/s over the last 6 days. Considering that I'm syncing at 1.2meg, this isn't too bad of a number, which includes downtime, disconnections and peak time usage.

Quite pleased with it so far. Keep it up :D

Mine is going a bit better too. Nothing really wonderful. I do break 100K/s at night tho still stuck around and average of 40K/s during the day. Also Youtube videos etc seem to be streaming ALOT better now which is greatly welcomed.

After a torrid 3 weeks...i guess I can crack a half smile.

Taken from http://www.tenet.ac.za/gen3-service-information/known-issues/archive:
Multiple outages affecting all Neotel MPLS GEN3 sites 6/4/2008 02h30-10h30

All Neotel MPLS GEN3 sites experienced multiple service failures between 02h30 and 10h30. Initial indications are that this was caused by Neotel maintenance, not notified to TENET in advance. Since this is a breach of the SLA, TENET has lodged a formal complaint and has requested a formal investigation and response.

Seems even an SLA doesn't protect you from Neotel's lack of communication.

I am in the Chartwell area just north of Fourways, full signal (4 bars) on my device, and my maximum speeds I get are around 80 kb/s, OFF-PEAK. Thankfully my disconnect issues are reduced slightly but even that is still a problem (at least once a day).

Trying to ask anyone at the NeoTel Tech support call centre if there are any planned upgrades/maintanence periods that will be happening soon to fix the contention issues we are experiencing I can picture the confused look on their faces from the tone of voice.

Unfortuantely ADSL is not available for me and IBurst's bandwidth costs are exhorbitant. I would love a Neotel rep response about the problems.

Here's an indication:

And those results were after trying to tune my MTU setting to 1378 instead of the default 1500

My speeds have been pretty bad since the disconnect issue we had, the disconnecting has gone, but my speeds have yet to return!

perhaps I'll switch back to my original tower tomorrow, now that I have time again! The tower I'm on has gone from an Ec/Io ratio of below 2, to about 3 now; and it looks like 3dB is where some congestion control kicks in on the device.

augh! I fixed my internet a lot by shifting the antenna, and getting the Ec/Io down to about -2.5dB. I bet if i spent longer I could get it way better, but i just dont have motivation anymore!

I seez you are using the softperfect network manager. Brilliant program :D

The PC i was using it on is broken now. PSU was hit by electricity :/

Anyways...

I've had a week of speed.

Now it seems that near the end of the month I have been throttled back to 20Kbps again...

I'm happy again...
