Message from Neotel Helpdesk is as always we are working on some network issue, and again I'm put into the 48hr queue with a commitment for someone to call me on Monday. Problem is that in the 3 months since I've had the Neotel service, no one at Neotel has actually lived up to this promise. The Neotel rep on these forums has also in the past failed to do anything about my complaints. I like many others have reached a point where terminating the service appears to be the only way to get a message across to Neotel.

For new customers I suggest you look for internet or phone services elsewhere, unless of course you are happy to pay for a service which is inconsistent at best. Yes I do have times where the network speeds are >1mbps but the inconsistency and poor turn around times to fix issues is the problem.

Download Speed: 29 kbps (3.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 856 kbps (107 KB/sec transfer rate)

Download Speed: 98 kbps (12.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 742 kbps (92.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

And that concludes my full week of exactly the same speed.
Sure , it opens Facebook in 5min time , thats not why i signed up. up to 10650ms latency on any game.

Then again like i said , there is no latency , just no throughput which in turn is read as latency.

Well im canning my neoflex and going back to telkom, logged calls, posted, and nothing works.

1.42 Mbps download
0.07 Mbps upload

I then opened a torrent and limited it to 2KB/s download. This was the speed test

0.18 Mbps download
0.01 Mbps upload

I close the torrent program and this was the results.

1.09 Mbps download
0.07 Mbps upload

Surely this isn't normal.

It happens to me as well. As soon as I start a download my surfing is affected regardless of the speed limit on my download manager.

Too bad I can't place the antenna on the roof because I live in a complex. I recon I'd hit 1Mb/s with it on the roof.

No speed since Thursday 7th May

Well nothing has really improved since Thursday, before that speeds were around 500Kbps, 3 weeks before that I was getting 1.5mbps...

Well here's another poor reflection on Neotel's service & network:
Date: 12th May 2009
Time: 10:07 PM
Download : 73Kbps
Upload: 3Kbps
Ping: 2076ms
Location: Parkhurst
Signal: Lights have gone from Excellent to Fair since Thursday; also confirmed by Helpless-Neotel-desk. Signal application unfortunately does not work on MAC so no possibility to state RSSI figures.

Neotel helpdesk today insists that the ticket logged reflects that they have sent me an email; funny how every month they can get a statement to me on time, but are unable to phone or send an email in response to calls logged about their network issues.

The agent has now promised to arrange for a credit for the days that Neotel has failed to deliver a service, well taking past performance into account I'd be rather stupid to bank on that one... Yes my term with Neotel is coming close to an end... There's something wrong about flogging a dead horse... with any race left...

Neotel: If you haven't noticed your speed test app (speedtest.neotel.co.za) is about to expire in 3 days.
