If your ADSL connection IP address changes then you bees to update unotelly. Easy way to solve this issue is to create a cron to do this automatically. There is a URL inside the unotelly settings that updates your IP on their servers when you open it without needing to login. Use that URL in the cron. Can probably set that up on pfsense box. Other option is to use dynamic address. And add that address into unotelly and they will ping the address for your IP.
Just to give some feedback.
After I posted here, I removed the Unotelly DNS addresses from my router again, running the DNS addresses only on the PS4 and it worked fine.

Yesterday after the loadsheding, I had the same error message that Hulu Plus could not start.
I went to the Unotelly Web page and checked under the IP update and saw there was a new IP assigned.

So it is definitely the change in IP addresses that are creating the problems for me.
I ran the bookmarked IP and Hulu Plus worked again.

Once again thank you for your help.

You need to update your IP every time your router reboots.

guys, looking at getting a piece of this pie, need some advice..

Firstly, is a 2mb line sufficient? Shaped/unshaped make a difference?

Which ISP? Im in the Sandton area.

Uncapped/capped?

Looking for the best value for money option available.

Cheers.

2mb line is minimum but at least 4mb is recommended. I would also highly recommend the WebAfrica home capped accounts or Afrihost's home uncapped.

2Meg is fine for 1 DVD quality stream, or 2 low quality streams if two people stream at the same time.

Web Africa Home uncapped(Or almost any IS based) account will be fine. Many people on MTN based accounts (Afrihost/Axxess) have lots of Netflix issues.

Awesome, so WebAfrica or Afrihost.

Again though, are they unshaped? or doesn't it make a difference?

Also, whats their fair usage policy on their uncapped account? Havent been able to find a specific amount.

Hi Shreez

I would just like to start by thanking you for writing such an intuitive post and was hoping you could shed some light as to what I am missing or have done wrong on registering my unotelly account. I have followed your step by step guide on registering the free trial unotelly DNS account. I have selected the JHB proxy as the primary server and the secondary I have used a american proxy which i have picked up off Unotelly's site as per your instructions. These proxies have been fed into my ps3 DNS settings and my uPnP is enabled.

The wheels then fall off when I try to run the Unotelly quickstart and this pops up, "UnoVPN is the best way to remove censorship". In essence my DNS startup is incomplete. Question to you, is it recommended to subscribe to the Gold package UnoVPN or is it it unnecessary? I did notice that my default network setting on the quick startup was not the same as was I have inputted through my ps3.

I am currently running a 2MB uncapped line through Telkom using a D-Link router supplied via Telkom and am set up via wifi. Note, I have not set up a US PSN account as yet however I do have a RSA PSN account set up that is in working order. I do realise that i need the Unotelly account to be in working order before setting up my US PSN account.

Your help or any other good samaritans help would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this and am rather technically challenged. Am trying to break away from DSTV as I can never find anything to watch these days.

P.S. Am looking into going on a 5 MB Bitco uncapped line and was wondering if I will actually require more than what I currently have to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc. Will a 2MB line be sufficient or is it worthwhile upgrading. Note, as it stands my gaming connection keeps dropping whilst playing Destiny so i think the jump would be advised. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dyl

If you only have the Unotelly dns on your router of course if you go to the site from your pc it will say setup incomplete.

Hi Chevron

I have actually got my unotelly DNS set up on my PS3. Do I also need to set up on my router. Does it not leave you vulnerable for attacks!

Nope. Router is best place to set it up. Then you can access Netflix on any device on your router.

Howzit Dyl,

You don't need to set it up on your router as well.
However, it definitely helps if you have multiple devices which you use to stream from, as in my case.
This will save you from having to hard code it on all of your streaming devices.

I'm not sure about vulnerabilities regarding this, this would depend on brand of your router.

By the way, thank you for your kind words, it is very humbling and I'm glad that this post continues to help people switch over to Netflix and Hulu.

Let us know if you experience any other difficulties, I always try to respond as soon as I can.
@Chev, thanks for responding in my absence :) (as always)

Hi Guys

Thanks for the quick responses. I am a very confused on setting up my trial Unotelly DNS. Their suggestion is to run with the gold VPN as I am located outside of America. What would you advise? It is more costly and is it a prerequisite! When trying to set up on Unotelly DNS it keeps bouncing back as incomplete. What up addresses do I need to set up in my Unotelly account settings. I need to get this set up immediately as my free trial has been activated and the days are ticking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Shreez

Do I need to set up a Unotelly VPN or Unotelly DNS account. On setup Unotelly cannot be setup and has recommended that i install the VPN option as am based out of the country. Your knowledge and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dyl

I am only using the uno DNS. I assume you are based in South Africa. In which case you don't need the VPN. I have seen the VPN recommendation once when my IP changed. If you have setup the uno DNS IP addresses on your ps3 then you need to open unotelly site on there to validate settings. That why I prefer to put it into router and use any device to update.

Hey Dyl,

It sounds like UnoTelly is trying to "upsell" you to their more premium package.
UnoVPN is not needed at all.
Unless Netflix hikes up their geolocation blocking techniques, vanilla UnoTelly at $5 a month will do just fine - that's what I'm using.

I've also done the whole trial thing with UnoVPN, but used it once to test and then never again.
My advice - don't bother unless there are other services which you want to access where you need to look like you're in the US.

Hi Shreez. Thanks for the feedback. Why then can I not set the Unotelly DNS. It's regionally blocking me. Do I need to set up the ip addresses as I have done on my PS3 as per your set up instructions. It seems as though when setting up the free trial account they automatically supply a South African IP address. What do u think?

Dear Gents,

If anyone is still subscribing to these updates, I have updated the troubleshooting area.
I've noticed last year December that Netflix is using some sneaky methods to force your DNS to point to Google.com.
I have no idea how they are managing to do this, but UnoTelly might at some have "your" default IP address as a Google IP address.

Just something to be aware of.

Nope still works fine for me. But I had trouble with google Chromecast. That is hard coded to google. But there is a work around for that also.
