Not to be funny, but the solution is to run it off your console.
I've also since writing this guide upgraded to a Samsung Smart TV, but yes, the quality is horrible and it buffers every couple of seconds.
Try running the app off your PS3 and you will thank me for it later!

Netflix takes a little while to register your settings.
The quality improves considerably.
I stream Netflix through a Samsung TV via laptop and it looks great.
I've tried it once on my TV connected via Gigabit cable, and it was rubbish so never bothered again.
Maybe I'm missing something, but how/what/why are you streaming from your TV "via" your laptop?
Are you watching Netflix from your laptop or the TV? I don't understand the need for both.

I've been using my PS3 with UnoTelly for Netflix for around 5 months now already and have setup my brother and parents on their Samsung Tv's and the difference between the PS3 version and the Samsung version are striking. Overall the video quality on the PS3 is much better, and the interface is much easier to use. If I remember correctly, the PS3 was rated as the best device to use for Netflix. For those of you worrying about using the PS3's wifi for HD, I've had no problems getting 720p on my 4mb line with Afrihost. I dont think a 4mb line is capable of getting better quality video, but I've honestly never bothered as 720 is good enough for me

On the topic of Netflix quality. It starts low then ramps up depending on your line speed.

If your laptop has an HDMI out then it's simply a matter of connecting that to your tv and using your tv as a massive screen
Edit - He could have also enabled internet connection sharing on his laptop to allow the TV to connect the the internet the laptop is sharing. That way you're using the laptop as a router, or am I wrong

Yep, that's also what I thought, but still came to the conclusion that it's pointless!

True, but on the TV the picture is good, but you can never get a decent stream.
I found it to buffer once every 3 seconds or so... so not really usable.

It's not a Samsung Smart TV.
I don't have a media device like a Roku or ATV.
The laptop is the next best thing.
Sits next to the tv connected with an HDMI cable.

How do you suggest I magically transport the Picture from the laptop to the tv?
I'm on a 2mb uncapped line and I do not have this problem.

Aaah ok... that makes sense!
I've ran it from my desktop, and I must say PS3 is still King.
I personally found the stream very low quality.
On my iPad it gets worse!

Well I can confirm that I get DVD quality without buffering.
Which is pretty much in line with Netflix's published requirements.

If you try the same with your SA account, it does not provide you with the resolution of your stream.
Yup, you're probably right. I used to be able to stream 1080p at times on my 4Mb/s line with MWeb, but not the same on my 10Mb/s Afrihost account.
Unfortunately MWeb are over-priced and a bunch of w@nkers, so I choose to stick with Afrihost for now. They're not getting in line to tell me that I am abusing their uncapped service. Also, because we have to use DNS magickery to get this stuff working, it's also "not supported".
I'm pretty sure if they wanted they could prioritize the UnoTelly DNS clusters though.

Now THAT I didnt know! I just normally use my US account for my streaming, I never realised you could use Netflix within other profiles on your PS3.... I learn something new every day!
