Netflix could destroy DStv - MultiChoice

Some of these non HD channels are a real buzzkill, NatGeo in HD please!

DSTV is on borrowed time. They have a stronghold over sport and SA sport but once someone gets hold of that, they are in danger.

It was smart of them to get the sponsorship of the PSL. That should hold them for another few years.

Oh I thought they were already killed?
Mybroadband is going same direction netflix is going

Dstv for sport. Actually for 1 channel. Can't afford the cricket and rugby premium.

I don't even watch much movies too. Netflix also has a competitor or 2. I spend my time on YouTube content (mostly downloaded) and have noticed kids spending time on YouTube and TikTok and not being interested in the cartoon channels.

Only if they get rights over what MC has already

But DSTV made billions then.

O I see, they claim netflix will kill them = job losses = government intervention. Don't have to come with truth.. they can just lie, and government will protect them (and tax us netflix subscribers)

If you cannot keep up with the competition then you must die. Good riddance

No quicker way to destroy something then to get government involved, they should go for it.

As much as I dislike DSTV and their insane pricing, I find it pretty rich that government want to regulate them and "open their network"
How about they get off their lazy asses and first open up Eskom's network to everyone, they cant even keep a single SOE turning a profit and now they want to mess with private industry.

DSTV doesnt need to be regulated, it will die a slow death regardless.

That is the SA way - regulate everything until the wheels come off. Then regulate wheels so they can't move, and thus not come off.
