Netflix could destroy DStv - MultiChoice

I have DSTV here in Moz but only ever watch sport (Moto GP mainly). I actually flipped through the channels last night for the first time in a long time while I was cooking dinner and all I found was utter garbage. Not a thing to watch. Have no idea how it is still going.

I have the DStv now cr-app. I borrowed it from my parents... quality sucks. Then the adverts.. o my fck. SO.MANY.ADVERTS. And shitty shows.

I stopped watching. Netflix and youtube (4k)....dstv sucks

DSTV, we are too dumb to compete against these, services, despite currently holding a solid monopoly in the market. Please protect us from ourselves.

DSTV has had a monopoly for so many years that they do not know what competition is.
Now they have been caught with their pants down.

Netflix could destroy DStv - MultiChoice

MultiChoice said over-the-top (OTT) providers like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, HBO Now, and Peacock pose an existential competitive threat to its DStv offering.

This statement was made as part of MultiChoice’s presentation at ICASA’s recent inquiry into the subscription television broadcasting services market in South Africa.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) launched an inquiry into the state of competition in the subscription broadcasting services sector in July 2016.

Simple lesson to DSTV . . .
If you don't look after your customers, then someone else will.
People are tired of being exploited

One thing DSTV still has is a monopoly of sport. Take that away and DSTV is dead on the water
Depending on which sport you are into, a VPN + US PayPal account will get you an annual sub for NBC for under a grand. It’s getting trickier to get set up these days but worth the effort.

I would love to watch the monopoly multichoice created die. Pathetic client service, inflated pricing outdated platform
The only question I have for myself is why I haven't cancelled my subscription.
