Netflix develops video quality measuring tool

What netflix should do is add a zoom feature to those whose tv's cannot zoom in while watching netflix on a smart tv.

Are you having problems reading something on the screen? Can't you just move closer?

Huh? What do you mean? Changing the aspect ratio?

Yes because mine shows the black bars on the top and bottom and I like to watch my movies in full screen but on my smart tv the setting to change the aspect ratio or zoom in is grayed out so nothing I can do.

if the port is set to game mode you cant change the aspect ratio I think

Mine is set on dynamic mode but even if you change modes it does not make a difference because you still cant change the aspect ratio or zoom in.

hmm not that then, sorry my bad. I cant remember what I do to get that same situation. I think if my NUC or Pi is plugged in it wont change maybe? cant remember now.

oh wait, I think if I'm using the browser or some app, like Netflix, it does that

But you lose the sides of the film or sit with everything squashed up.

Heresy!

ShowMax should have one as well.

i thought i was the only one with this issue, because mine on showmax looked like it was in aspect ratio of 4:3, but no option for 16:9 or to get into fullscreen. I questioned this, and was told it was my media player. But jeez, i cant believe you cant add the option to change aspect ratio within the Showmax app

Its not only you. I'm also having issues on certain movies using Chromecast

For me its not certain, its all. I queried this with them, but eish its like you talking to a robot. Like just release an update, and give us a little place where we can click, and choose the aspect ratio we want. Im not having this issue with Netflix, which is why i basically cancelled Showmax

Still waiting for you to report back if changing to 720x480 did anything.

sorry, its negative. Didnt do anything when i changed to that RES... i tried the tv's zoom function and nothing either. Like i said, its not a setting, because Netflix opens up everything in full screen, and they too dont have a setting to change aspect ratio.

Since Showmax is just a normal Android app, can't you just use your remote to "double tap" the video player that will stretch it?
