Netflix not making dedicated Apple Vision Pro app

… I never said it was though? I never said most the things you said I said?

But more than likely, it is an Apple fault. I’ve never been one to subscribe to the notion that everything wrong with Apple is someone else’s fault .

From the link you posted...

This lack of a revamp seems to be a deliberate choice. One of the iOS designers behind the redesign announcement responded to some questions about the tvOS app in a tweet, informing users that they had “been giving it some love”. No further details about an update for the Apple TV Netflix app were given before the tweet was deleted, and users have been suspicious since.

There is a really good reason why Netflix doesn't want a stupid app. It is because then they have to pay more money to Apple for subscriptions obtained through the app.

What are you on about? Netflix has long stopped allowing subscriptions via iTunes.

I never said that though ?
That's the link I posted ?

Yet you post this...

They were later with ad free Netflix and can't do Nertflix interactive, and from the links the GUI is an issue because Apple want to interfere etc . I don't think it's rosey

How did you arrive at this conclusion?

Netflix don't even have to create apps for a competitors platform but saying it is Apple's fault is nothing but mental gymnastics.

If you have an app that offers subscriptions that can be created via an app on an iPhone, the terms of service require you to hand over 30%.

There was a whole court case on this:

https://siliconangle.com/2024/01/17...terms-let-apps-link-external-payment-methods/

This is only true if your app displays a subscribe option. Netflix doesn't offer it in their iOS app...

You can download the app from the store yes, but you can only create an account and subscribe on the web.

Ok Hush.

It's Netflixes fault :)

Netflix didn't want Apple to have the better GUI ... they didn't want them to have Netflix Interactive ... They didn't want to launch the ad-free tier.

The same as when YouTube couldn't do 4K on Apple TV? That was YouTubes fault .... they held back 60fps ... they also withheld HDR switching
Overheating iPhones? Instagrams fault ... but lucky Apple fixed it
BMW Wireless charging issues? BMWs fault ... but lucky Apple fixed it
Wireless issues? Switch / AP / ISP fault
HiRes lossless not availabe on 3rd party devices? Every audio manufactures fault

I feel bad for Apple trying to run a transparent, legit business and all these other people hate them and sabotage them ...

This is just huffing and puffing off nothing but conjecture while going off a tangent and including your other gripes which have nothing to do with the discussion.

Does tvOS have GUI guidelines? Sure, but this is no different to Android TV as a matter of fact and the apps appearance is largely the same. There is only so much you can do with an interface before it gets convoluted and you start messing with consistency across platforms...

And you continue to harp about this Netflix Interactive... Nobody cares about it, I doubt anybody ever did. What is of relevance though is Netflix shunning some of the more prominent tvOS API's which would make the Apple TV user experience better. Netflix obviously have their reasons but they're sure as hell not Apple's fault.

I don't think blood is great between Apple & Netflix ... it's probably politics / commercials
Where do you get that though? Any actual source or just shitposting/speculating?

@Hush9300 @FiestaST do we at least agree that there is bit of bad blood? ake off the Apple glasses and read the below headlines.

They actually do because you're incapable of understanding that Apple can be wrong or at fault . I don't dislike you for it - most of the fans just lack the ability. So whenever something is wrong, it's not their fault. I'm giving you examples - and this Netflix & Apple is another .

I just said they don't have the best blood between them - and you instantly 'disagree and try show that they do, but Netflix has the issue' (like everyone else) .

Take off the glasses

Did you read the links that I sent with people mentioning how different things are ?

Sure it's easy to scream 'I don't care!' with the lack of a feature - but when you do it for every single negative, people think you're a bit of an iSheep .

Are you ?

Then let him remove his apps from the stores... Oh wait.

In any event, this doesn't address your contention that Apple is interfering with the development of the app.

Do you think strict guidlines and codec requests may be seen as interfering in the original plan ?

Apple have plenty faults but the state of the Netflix tvOS app is certainly not one of them.

I just said they don't have the best blood between them - and you instantly 'disagree and try show that they do, but Netflix has the issue' (like everyone else) .

Where have I said they don't have bad blood? All I said was Netflix don't have the luxury of alienating a large group of their userbase. This is why the iOS app has been refreshed because Netflix couldn't ignore them. The tvOS and visionOS userbase pales in comparison and as such Netflix can ignore them.

This discussion came about because you inferred that the lack of app refresh is Apple's fault and not the more realistic one that Netflix simply refuses to because they're now competitors.

It's extremely difficult to hold a coherent discussion with you on anything Apple related because you enter a discussion with your conclusion already drawn and then start introducing off topic stuff. You're more up and down than a Hillbrow prostitute in that sense.

ie If Apple goes to YouTube and says 'you're more htan welcome to have your app on our store - but we don't like or support the VP9 codec you've chosen' ... who is at 'fault' ? Being an Apple person you'd say YouTube - but can you see how the limitations imposed also limit YouTube? Are you capable of understanding that much?
Where have I said they don't have bad blood?
The below doesn't look like you're agreeing with me & you probably could have worded your agreement better

Are you ?
Even if blood isn't great as you put it

a) I said they don't have great blood between them
b) I said that more than likely politics / commercials are the reason
c) I asked whether you feel strict guidelines are a type of limition

It's tough to talk to people so illogical that get upset at the first sign that Apple may not be perfect in a situation and thus, need to look for and argue their way out on behalf of Apple.

Yup, I concur. I did some mild research afterwards I am open follow, open to being corrected. It does appear to be less than ideal terms between the two.

My "beef" with you was your thickness in the other thread, there are no other words that can be used.
