Netflix ZA Live

Netflix app downloaded to Roku 3. Signed up to Netflix via the Roku app and we are streaming in perfect HD on my 4mb capped line. Selection isn't WOW, as I would like to see more documentaries, but for the kids, the selection is pretty cool. Will decide before trial end whether to keep or pull the plug.

Just wanted to make sure the US account I was using (a mates) and Unotelly didn't interfere with my testing.
 
Not impressed with the selection in ZA. I have around 40 titles on my list of which 95% is available in the US. Of those 40 titles, only 5 are available in ZA.
 
I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the boardrooms of Multichoice today :D

The only concern to multichoice is not being able to renew their content licenses as Netflix has more money most likely? But then maybe the government here will get involved to make sure the money making lies within the country.

No. PS Store timed out every time I tried creating an account. Will try again tonight when I'm at home. Otherwise I'll try switching regions on my Samsung Smart TV to see if I can at least get the app installed, then switch back.

Well that and people ditching their services for Netflix...
 
I'm sure the ZA line up is sufficient for many people who would like to save R700 a month and cancel DSTV. I suspect a wave of mass cancellations this week and next.

But - the big draw card that MC has is sports - can't get live sports on Netflix.
 
And of course MC won't change their approach. I suspect they won't offer a "sports package" but rather keep the main SS channels tied to the Premium package.
 
It is a downside, but R700 for sports only, was an easy choice for me.
 
You MC guys have forgotten about your nice Price increase in April, and because R to $ is kuk you are going to suffer me thinks:-)
