Netflix ZA Live

Notice how they kept the price in $.

Obviously they see the direction the R is going...

Why on earth did they go and keep the rate in $$$? Now Showmax will stay ahead... R99 vs R158 or something like that. And if I read previous posts correct the content is also less than US version? Disappointed :-(
It's unfortunate for those who can't setup unotelly but I'm sure the offering will improve.

I'm more than happy to pay for the US service as it's far better value than any local offering, and it doesn't support these local muppets.

Anyone else getting a error when trying to enter credit card details? It's saying something like "the payment system is currently not available, please try again later". Wondering if other people is getting this or is it my Capitec card?

so logged in with my existing US account and looked at the content....wait something missing??
Logged out...used my VPN and logged in again....voila the good stuff is back!
so clearly the content varies per region

Content selection is pretty decent to be honest.

Thought that went without saying

The question should be how does it differ.

My US login details worked instantly.

Not yet, no.

Bit odd that their pricing is still in US dollars...

Makes sense with the way the R is going.

If you already have a US Netflix account can you still watch the SA one?

Your US login details will work. No need to change.

So, what would the total damage on a netflix sub plus the internets to facilitate it?

Depends what you already have, and how often you want to watch.

Anyone compared the library?

Nowhere near US, but way more than I expected. Definitely more than ShowMax.

Not impressed. No Samsung SmartTV app yet so its useless to me and my family. Don't feel like using the consoles each time we want to use it.

Line up, nothing impressive. Already have 95% of what we watch on ShowMax.

Will give it a spin for a couple of months and see if they make it worth my while. I like competition but sadly ShowMax are in the lead.

It's not just the content. But the whole experience. Everything from the UI to recommendation engine is better on Netflix. Once you've used Netflix for a while ShowMax will feel archaic. Content be damned.

I'm watching Netflix on my Fibre line. I am not even sure I live in South Africa anymore... :P

Not sure how much it differs but i have used the local account via VPN and i can get House of cards which i cant get without the VPN.

Thought that went without saying too

Some shows like house of cards are US only

I've cancelled my SA account, only effective 5th Feb, sticking with US Netflix account.

There was no reason to create a new account. The login you already had works in ZA.

The Android app still wont work.

Works for me.

Until people actually use it. When it comes to usability and UI, Netflix is miles ahead.

I can't get onto Netflix page... Seems to be down for quite a few people if I check DownDetector.

Seems the Netflix drop added a massive load on local ISPs, my WA Business account is absolutely crippled.
