New ADSL pricing

There is nothing better than a ADSL line, go for your 3G and Neotel wireless, wow a R10 rand increase! lets all cry now.

Get over it people.

Sheesh - another person who completely fails to understand economics and costing.
It is NOT just a R10 increase - it is a 10% increase on a service used by everyone - every business, and a lot of residential users. This has a direct impact on the country's inflation rate - even if it is just a small amount, it IS going to affect the cost of food and it will influence the reserve banks decision to raise interest rates.

And then, of course, it is an increase on a product that should never have been charged for in the first place (in the case of ADSL line rental and analogue rental) - just to add insult to injury.

The world needs sheep, without them everyone would be a leader...
But please help us support the cause here... Forget about the actual R10 and think about the principle there of.

Vortex, you need a slap!! I am gonna skype slap you just now...

Neotel must hurry up and bring WiMAX so I can leave telkom.

“Our broadband customers will also be pleased to hear that our submission makes provision for the monthly subscription charges for ADSL, Do Broadband and Telkom Internet to remain unchanged,” said Godfrey Ntoele, Telkom’s group executive, national sales and marketing operations.

:( Pleased, pleased, we are everything but pleased....

This is so typical....

I am waiting for Neotel coverage, with anticipation....

I would love to see the day when a SA company decides to keep customers rather than shareholders happy. There has to be a company out there who looks at their multi-billion profit margin, which is only available to them due to the clients, and turn around and say it is payback time for all the support and finally give a little back to keep the customer base happy.

From Telkom to Eskom to even cell providers... "things are expensive, we must charge more" and then they declare a multi-billion Rand profit taking for the year.

And then SinnerG woke up

ELIAC objected to the line rental increase they did last year - ICASA dodged the bullet better than Boris - this is nothing more than Gotya economics at play (- so make some noise

Actually you fail at economics because the real price of ADSL has gone down over the last year what with 10% inflation and only a marginal increase in line rental. :)

If R111.90 to R124.20 is "marginal" then I need to redefine my understanding of the word.

Telkom can keep on talking .... but I aint listing no more!!!

P.S. I wonder how many South Africans have immigrated because of telkom alone. Im sure alot of people have.

Just another reason that they definitely should not be afforded advertising space here

Ok but the point is:
1) Its still overpriced.
2) They are charging rental on something that is already paid for over and over again.
3) They have no good reason for increasing rental other than maintaining their incredibly high profit margins.

how much extra profit would this be for Telkom? R10 x 5 million lines? PER MONTH?

rpm, do you have a copy of the full list of tariffs proposed by Telkom (yes I know, I ask you every year)...?

ICASA says that Telkom's submission is confidential until ICASA has approved it.... but I'm pretty sure ICASA is talking rubbish.

From reading the headline for a sec I thought the price might be dropping.

Boooof.....back down to earth.
Die Telkom die!!!
