New ADSL pricing

If you're on a 1Gig ADSL account, you might as well go with HSDPA, cost you less, you're mobile and faster.

Telkom does not respond well to arguments based on common sense or logic.

Lets face it, they have not made any effort to service their customers.
Everything that they have done was directly related to their bottom line. They've given nothing back, made no sacrifices and given us nothing more than the absolute minimum.

Sounds like the government right?
Maybe they will also respond to the only thing that the government responds to?

Terrorism. (Now please don't go strap a bomb around your waist......)
I just seems like the only way to deal with these organisations.

When you have 10 problems to attend to.
Which one are you going to attend to first?
If you are working with customers, you are probably going to service the customer giving you the most trouble.

Imagine a motor service agent. They have 25 cars to service on that day. Business as usual, except for 1 customer making one hell of a racket because his/car has been damaged on site.

There may be other customers with complaints about customer service etc. But if the complaint does not cause them some sort of financial obligation they are simply going to focus or the more important issues.

With Telkom we just complain but they can ignore us because we cant affect their bottom line. We all want to use the alternative operator but.....yeah.

So how do we twist Telkom's arm?

We strike? Burn and pillage? No, we have to be clever about this.
There has to be a way to affect Telkom financially. But in a LEGAL manner please.

Please guys. Please post well motivated ideas on how we can financially affect Telkom, LEGALLY.

I say you should start a new thread on this if you haven't already. A thread dedicated to this type of discussion.

First thing first, one of the major problems we face when trying to take these guys to task is that there is no-one worth our while to speak to. Where do we turn? Who do we approach?

Hell I even tried the JSE once to no avail.

Paying R564 for a 4MB Connection 3 Gig intl 30 gig local is not a reason to go cancel your sweet ADSL line.

Id rather have my 100% stable line than some dippy 3g/hsdpa Wireless connection.

Each of us use the internet for different things. I love my 4mb line, and soon to be upgradable to 8mb, but that's Still far away from 20mb :/

If Neotel is cheaper and can give me the same offering before i am 30 then i would go for it.

Someone should put up a pre-written letter letting ICASA and Telkom know how we are unhappy which allows us to just put in our name, email, and whatever else. Then we send this around every big SA website and flood their servers with complaints. If we don't bring the price down, at least they will have millions of emails to sort through :P

And when will they have? :(

Me thinks that govt has said that LLU will be done by 2011 (I speak under correction)

But at this point in time I was wanting to hook my parents up with DSL, but will rather be waiting on Neotel to serve up some better offerings when they launch in CT. *hands clasped in prayer*

Wow, that is aaaages to wait and aaaages before Telkom have to do anything but raise their ridiculous prices :(

WiMax should really be good enough for Neotel's true broadband offerings. What they have now is simply the most effective way to deliver a landline and replace dial-up and some ADSL connections.

Their caps are already looking very good for the price. If they have a stable connection with good speeds and better prices for plain broadband then I couldn't care if Telkom lower their prices or not. :D

This is like when car licence fees don't increase in the Western Cape but oh wait, now they slap on a R30 admin fee that wasn't there before!!!

Definitely!

Worse still I sent a cheque off in the post for my car licence a month ago. It was returned with a covering letter stating the amount was incorrect.
I had inadvertently taken the wrong figure represented on the Licence Renewal Form which did not include the R30 admin fee. (E.g. R330 instead of R360)
