+1 but if you want to know, I watch on a 47" Phillips full HD LCD and listen to it on my Sony 6.2 Surround, while sitting on my leather recliner.
 
Well done Afrihost! Get rid of that 7% and give non-abusers the chance to enjoy themselves. It's so selfish of you download hogs, yet you still bitch and moan here. WTF is wrong with you all, you want everything for nothing. Get over it.

Thanks Afrihost for this new development, I just changed from capped to uncapped. Get rid of the rubbish that's selfishly ruining it for everyone and then complaining about it. I suggest you add to your T&C that you can choose who you want to do business with then cancel the accounts of abusers, blacklist them and then no other ISP will take them on an uncapped basis.

It seems that 50GB is the new threshold, if this is the case then I'm out of here!
Heavy usage depends on your previous month usage also. When you go over 50gigs and you month before or if you hit 50gigs very early in the month then you will be throttled heavily.

After voicing my concerns with Afrihost I got this reply again:
The threshold is the same. Increments of 50Gb. Only now you will get throttled when you hit 50Gb instead of getting shaped. Also, it is based on an hourly system. If your usage is not as much as the 93% that are "abusing" the cap, then you will not fall into the category. The system can seem a bit confusing. Your throttling will depend on last month usage and current usage. Can be between 1024 and 512kbps

Remember, it is revised every hour. So you can go from 4mbps, to 512kbps in the first hour but then jump back to 4mbps in the 2nd hour :)

I will stick with them for the coming month, but so help me they better not do something stupid with this new policy.
The reason I got uncapped was to hit around 60-90Gb per month without looking over my shoulder the whole time and fear of being penalized. Hope they do not disappoint since I still think they are a great company.

What do you base THAT on? I'm on Mweb's uncapped and loving it. I download 250GB+ in a month easy. I browse fast, game fast and I can spool multimedia straight off the web. What am I missing?

Happy so far.
Afrihost could not tell me when I would be throttled based on a number when I spoke to them alst night, and that is the most amazing part.
they don't have any idea what they are doing.
I was an Afrihost fanboi until about 30 days ago.
Rubbish - im with MWEB now.
 
Well i downloaded a bit last night maybe 2,5GB line speed about 2mb went to bed, this morning at work line speed good all the way till about 15:00, now its dead unusable. So bandwidth is being taken for the world cup!!! This is being used as a excuse to blame 7% of the heavier users, this excuse will lead to higher prices and less value in the future, the internet explosion is still coming with the rest of the cables. This is a means to keep prices high until that happens. /sigh seacom wasnt the silver bullet :(
 
mweb 60gb throttle?.... tell that to the 230gb iv pulled in about two weeks :).....
afrihost has failed.
 
I'd like to hear where who.is.michael gets his info. Maybe he is Gian in disguise.
