Where are those prices from?
Looks like Rebeltech if I'm not mistaken?

Collermaster scout case for R1196? you can get a decent coolermaser or Aerocool case for R700.
You must like the Samsung EVO to pay R2415 for the ssd.

Why the Z787 board? nice board but overkill to say the least at that price.

Antec 750w you could most likely replace with a similar sized Seasonic for a bit less.

You could get a similar sized ssd for R1000 less that will work as well.

Why the z87? Why not? I have z87 and 4770k. Hardly even use 10 percent of its capabilities. Worth every cent.

Smasung ssd is leading the way at the moment. They are the only company that manufactures their own firmware, their own hardware, and their own controllers. Their 500gig is one of the best performing ssd you can buy at the moment. Does come with a price however. Worth it though.

Okay I can almost guarantee that I will overclock sometime in the future, not majorly though just enough to keep on the edge.
So I should try avoid ram that have heatsinks on them & get a cpu cooler?
You can take the ones with the heatspreaders. Just get a watercooler then.

My mobo comes with WiFi and a gazillion other features I don't use. But, I got it for an amazing deal!

Get the Z87, since you want to overclock.

I wasn't debating his choices from a quality standpoint, merely pricing.
No doubt this will be a great machine.

If I don't plan on overclocking the moment I get my rig; I'll probably only do it a year or so down the line, should I get the RAM with the heatsinks (is it necessary at all?) and only get a water cooling system further down the line? Or everything now?

Scout 2 is an awesome case. Will be my next case.

That's also an ok price for the Samsung Evo.

The heatsinks aren't really necessary and I don't think you'll go down the line of OCing RAM. If there are RAM that costs exactly the same, for the same specs, with no heatsink then it's a better option for you. The water cooler is not a must, only when you're going to overclock. But, you can use an aircooler (like I do) as well, that's the only time the RAM heatsink could be a problem, if you go aircooling.

It's still a bit much for a 250gb imo but I do understand the price.
It is a great case but as I mentioned before, I was just highlighting the fact that you can purchase cheaper parts.

How essential are ram heatsinks when ocing?

They allow you to get more mhz from the same set.

Sorry it was a rhetorical question.
I know the function but don't see the need.

I want to know HOW essential you think they are.

In my opinion it's not worth overclocking ram for gaming performance.

8gigs at 1333mhz is better than 4gigs at 2000mhz.

One step at a time matey. Build your system first. You will probably change your mind on what type of water cooling you want to do once you see it all assembled.
If you are set on purchasing your h20 cooling now then consider one of these. http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.ph...1165&authkey=53a80de7fb8bc386124caa2f9e50212b very cool.

GIGABYTE R9-290, 4GB 512bit 4 channel DDR5, WINDFORCE 3X 450W - R6,595

GIGABYTE R9-290X, 4GB 512bit 4 channel DDR5, 64RoPs, 320Gb/sec memory transfer -R8,497

Which one should I go for? the X version can be overclocked and the other can't be? Is that the only difference?

The cheaper one is the one that I would go for. Will a few extra frames be noticeable? maybe 2 - 3 extra frames??? nope.

The "overclockable" one is just for marketing purposes.
