I bought a LiteOn 250gb for R1300 including delivery from Carbonite.
Couldn't be happier.

New OEM version in sealed packag with 6 month warranty from seller.

^^this...

Don't skimp!!

120gb and you'll eventually be worrying about available space.

I got a 256gb samsung 840 on carbonite for R1800 I think it was about 4 months ago.

120gb is like Robert Mugabe.
It'll promise the world only to end up getting syphilis and resorting to spurting BS about imperialist organ grinding monkeys.

If that makes any sense.

Everyone going on about him needing to get a 256GB SSD... He should, I agree. But, he's getting a 500GB HDD as well... And he wants to load movies onto it... 500GB is waaaaayyy to small! You'll run out of space in 2 months! Get a 1TB or 2TB.

With regards to the R9 290 vs R9 290X, the R9 290 is the best value for money in that price range it's only slightly slower than the R9 290X and Nvidia cards don't come even close.

I am getting a 250Gb SSD and a 1Tb 7200rpm hdd. I also already have a 2tb external so I'm sure I won't need more :D

I can choose between the msi gtx780 3GB OC or the MSI R9 290X GAMING 4G? Both roughly the same price.
What do you think I should I go for?

I'd take the 290X.

I have over 3TB of drive space with nothing on.
I don't download squat anymore.
My steam library is mostly the biggest except for Sound libraries.

I don't put much emphasis on storage anymore since streaming is so simple.

This. Once you get something like Netflix/Hulu/ntv.mx you won't worry about hard drive space any more.

Actually on that note, I'm looking at trying to get Netflix for the family. I read that the quality of the videos aren't 720p + more like 480p. Is this true?

And how much does it go for? Cause after this build I won't have much else to spend, cause as an 18 year old I don't earn an amazing salary :p

Depends on your line speed and ISP. 2Meg will get you around 480p. 4meg is better.

Well Netflix is R80 a month and to get it working in SA you need Unotelly which is R50 a month. So R130 altogether.

Now another question, should I get the MSI R9 290X GAMING 4G for R8241

Or two MSI R9-280X, GAMING Ed and xfire them? Cost: R8700.

You opened a can of worms now. Straight performance, 2x R9 280Xs will be better than a single R9 290X. But, there is a big twist, and that is in the form of support. xfire (CF) is still not where we want it to be, where you get 200% performance. Also, the instability/support some games have makes CF not that feasible. Then there is also the power usage, 2x R9 280Xs uses more power and creates more heat within the case.

In your case, I'll go with the single R9 290X.

Alright :) Will the R9-290X fit in the CM scout 2 case even though I put a non-stock fan on my cpu? :p
I am a novice so please forgive me.
Think it will. Do some google'ing and go to the product websites to get dimensions to make extra sure
