New career path!

Writing good code is always important.... suckers that write poor code are bound to give some poor end-user a heart attack or cause him to get stuck up in a tree

And then he'll come by and save them.

Nice :)

I've always felt that being a paramedic/fireman is a more "important" and meaningful job than writing code, but one has to consider the salary difference :(

I'm sure you did though so props to you! Good luck!!

I dunno mate, picking up drunks off the pavement at 4am on a Sunday morning? I would rather be the drunk on the pavement :)

That's what the fireman part is for, mowing down drunks at 4am on Sunday mornings :p

Congratulations! And respect for following your passion to do something selfless and help others

Find a job you like and you will never work a day in your life ..... or something like that.

Congrats sir, I hope it is all that you have dreamed of.

Been in EMS for close on 3 years - I volunteer alot at Metro EMS (Pinelands base) and with Netcare 911 and now I ad-hoc with ER24 (till I start with them obviously)

What do you do (can you do) if someone's jugular vein is severed, not just ruptured, but completely cut off? Can something be done?

Stop the bleeding would be the first and foremost thing to do - depending on your situation boet - using direct pressure (you push moer hard if you have to!) and a towel or 2 or 3 or 4 (never remove, keep adding - because blood will clot and then it will hopefully 'block' / 'stop' the bleeding but then honestly, if it is the JV, that's probably wishful thinking), your main thing is to stop the bleeding or at least minimize blood loss and you rush that person to the nearest hospital for advanced treatment.

But if the jugular is the sole source of blood to the brain then you can't wait for advanced treatment at a hospital that might be alot of minutes away.

What I'm asking is if there is a method or technique whereby which paramedics can reestablish bloodflow to the brain after a someone throat and jugulars has been slit.

I'm thinking of folding an artery and inserting it into another artery and then sealing any backward flow ...

Is it practically possible for paramedics to do or is it totally impossible???

Thus why you get the patient to the hospital ASAP - when you arrive at hospital they'll see the need and treat the patient immediately.
This is called TRIAGING - patient would be considered RED and thus treated first.

I wish I had the guts to do something like this ages ago. I'm so stupid for listening to my parents...yeah, so I make OK money but sho, work is a pain. If I could go back 7 years iI would have done everyting differently. Too bad what I wanted requires a minimum age....

Well done bro. Good to hear that youre doing what you enjoy.

Congratulations Gdiza! I wish you all the best of luck!! Godspeed!
