My mom is looking for a new cellphone contract, doesn't have to be MTN but and equivalent one to the Anytime 100 package but it needs to be cheap...

What would be the best option around this time???

Thanks

The phone is not an issue, and she is currently on MTN but that contract is being cancelled.

Well, if she's happy with MTN there are quite a few phones available on Anytime 100. Anything from R49/month (ex. itemised billing) up to R149/month. Just pop in to your local dealer - they'll be able to help. The Yello Trader does not contain all the specials that they have on offer.

...and what SP do you recommend? As in autopage, nashua etc etc...

I have heard that MTNSP are the best.

Let's put it this way - when dealing with MTN contracts, MTNSP is the best of a bad bunch. I'd prefer them over Autopage and Nashua mobile any day.

I got the Nokia 6210 Navigator on a Mycall 100 contract.....I think your mom will like it, it's a really cool phone.

However, MTN's billing is screwed up, I have received a different bill for the last 4 months...and the really funny thing....I'm using a Vodacom dual sim in my Navigator and the MTN sim is somewhere in a drawer.

Check the Vodacom deals, think she'll be happier there. ;)

The thing is she has a phone already, so there is no point choosing the contract for the phone, any old phone will do... How about any contracts with voucher options etc.?

Virgin mobile then, R100 a month = R100 airtime, thats it.

just dont try using it for data

Hate MTN!!! I'd go with Vodacom because at the end of the day, any problems pop up, you can always have V3G on your side ;)

Just go to your nearest shopping mall, go to the MTN shop & Vodashop.....check the deals, ask the salespeople for any specials....and do the deal. Easy as that.

Then why sign a new contract and finance something she doesnt need? PAYG.

Because she can get much better deals on contract. MTN has some Anytime 100 packages that cost about R49/month for R100 airtime *and* 25 SMSs. This also includes a phone - what you do with the handset is your choice.

Sounds good why dont they mention those on the MTN website? (The rates on the site for the Anytime 100 are fairly close to the PAYG rate.)

Hey isn't there an MTN rep that can send me the latest MTNSP specials list?

I contacted MTN Direct and a woman, think it was Joan Maredi, emailed me the whole list.

She was quite helpful and made sure my new Nokia Navigator got delivered after two days of faxing her the signed contract. No need to go to a MTN shop.

*There's no MTN shop at the V&A Waterfront and I was too lazy to drive into town. ;)

There's another option....if you have a Woolworths store card, you can buy a phone in Woollies (all their phones are prepaid if I'm not mistaken) and pay it off over a couple of months.
