New DSTV HD Decoder

WTF?!

i was at the same hifi corp this morning at 9am and the moron told me that it's the baby pvr that's on "sale" and they don't have it in stock. now i'm pissed!
 
LOL - What a bunch of chops!!!

Sigh.... the salesman at my branch was adamant that it is the baby PVR that is on special - I asked him 3 times........

Tiny bit off topic but if I buy a new decoder I assume it needs to be married to my old smartcard. How is this done and how long does it take?

You can't have DOD with the baby decoder??

Naah - all the new decoders come with new smartcards which are married together - so you need to tell DSTV that you will be using a new smartcard and that gets changed on your account
 
are they definately going to release those features or is it one of their false promises..?

Dude that sucks balls, i was helped by one of the minions on the floor and didnt even make mention of the baby PVR, just told him i want the HD decoder thats on special and he brought the UEC one and scribbled R1999 on the side of the box. Im fairly sure it should be the full one they are selling, because the add says save R1000. I would take it back and demand the full one if i were you

I went to HiFi Corporation this morning in Centurion, had a huge argument with the guys pretty much had everyone there, anys they used the T&C's argument for the picture and said thats what they received from multichoice as a special so thats what they selling. I was pretty adament that i wanted the "Big" PVR but they didnt budge. I used the saving of R1000 to further try and convince them, but it fell on deaf ears.

So good luck, think there is some false advertising going on here, but seems like they selling the "baby" only. (unless you are one of the lucky few)

Went to Hifi Corporation at N1 City, the special is for the small one, also explained to the salesman that it can't be the baby one, because that is the recommended selling price R2000, and if you apply the R1000 discount they should be selling it for R1000. Wouldn't budge, so I will wait till they have proper specials for the small HD decoder before 11 June.
 
Just got mine , paid 1999 for the Baby HD PVR , I also bought cable and a twin LNB. I have an existing dish with single view. Would I need a switch ? or just plug the 2 cables straight from LNB into decoder?I am not looking for extra view in the future.

Any chance you can test if it will work off a single lnb (without recording off course) and if the HD channels will work

I have just come back from my HIFI Corp branch here after phoning PE and being told the special is for the silver UEC model!!!

So I went back to the East London branch where I bought my BABY PVR from and I told the sales guy what I had heard from PE. He then went into the back and dissappeared for 15min while I was left standing in an empty returns room on my own.

I then lost it when he came back and said PE had it wrong and I have the right decoder. I also told him there was no R1000 off but he wouldn't hear it. I then ***'ed them out for leaving me standing like a fool - no apologies or anything. What TERRIBLE service!

I then phoned PE again and the same guy I spoke to earlier then said East London had phoned him and between the 2 branches they had figured out PE was wrong. The PE guy then said they have made a big mistake and sold 20 Silver UEC's at R1999 to their customers at a loss of R20 000!

SO - to those of you who scored a UEC Silver for R1999 - you suck! But you sure as hell scored!!!!

jbeen, does it have an RF-Out ?

There was some speculation earlier that the Baby Pace may not have an RF-Out !

I haven't opened my one's box yet, but it HAS to have RF OUT in order for a heart-beat cable in an extraview setup
