New DSTV HD Decoder

Still no word on when we can get the decoders? Yes i know Transnet is striking

Anyone know how much installation should cost for this i dont have a PVR in the first place..
I'm still on single view SD decoder...

Thanks

Assuming you are referring to the new HDPVR:
Twin LNB R300
Extra cable to decoder R3/m
+ labour

yup, the new decoder..
Is that all i'd need? Is the installation hard? I've never done a dstv installation before..
Will the twin lnb allow me to use the pvr functionality as well?

How much do you think i would save by doing the installation myself?

Yup, the decoder requires 2 inputs which is exactly what the twin LNB gives (as I mentioned above with a single LNB installation the decoder will work fine, you just wont be able to record)
You can search around for more detailed instructions but basically mark the position of your current LNB and then replace it with a Twin LNB.
Connect the 2nd cable & run it to the decoder. You will also need the end F connectors (about R3 each)

Well if you want to save money then buy the LNB & cable yourself from somewhere like Space TV otherwise installers will just add their markup to it.
If you are hesitant to do the LNB installation then ask an installer for a quote to just put it up for you, and maybe run the cables if you dont want to climb or crawl if its needed

Just saw the hi-fi corp weekly specials flyer and they have the normal HD-PVR for R1999. I'd say thats a huge bargain

Are you sure that was not the catalogue from 2 weeks ago. They had the special then but you had to buy the decoder with an installation voucher of R1700

I have just been to Hifi-Corp.... can confirm that it is the Black Pace View 1 Record 2 HD-PVR on special from tomorrow morning at 9AM.... no prizes for guessing where I will be standing just before 9AM tomorrow :)

Phones my installer - he will be adding this new HD-PVR next to my current SD-PVR for less than a grand (multiswitch, heartbeat cable and labour) which suits me perfectly as I don't have the time to fiddle with an installation ahead of this weekend's Super 14 final in HD BABY!! :)

Also - I phoned the multichoice agents here and the lady said they are still waiting for stock of the "baby" HD-PVR but she doesn't have pricing. I asked her if she thinks it will be less than R2000 and she said yes.....

ARGH! What to do now?!
