New Ford Everest

I read the article.
This price is for the Limited edition.
20"rims and some other bells and whistles.
I'm guessing starting price for the entry level model to be around R480k. This would make it competitive
 
The equivalent for tuner is nearly r100k cheaper though... this will be a hard sell at the current price.

Disagree big time with your assumption of ~ R480k starting. Remember only option locally at least is the 3.2.

Looking at the price of the 3.2 Ranger DC Auto & Everest will of course be positioned higher.

Bottom line this is one properly expensive Ford.

I'm not sure it is a "Limited edition". It's just the (top) spec level's name. Other one is XLT.

And yeah, Discovery Sport starting at 100k cheaper... No thanks.

Yeah, even assuming a jump in price to the new one of say 10%.. you're looking at R600k, and a cheaper Toyota Fortuner will be a better seller than the Ford Everest...

I will say though, that I'm surprised by the Everest pricing, I expected it to be higher (over the R700k) mark.
 
They'll need to get the 2.2l engine to market to gain market share. SA loves to Fortuner too much for this to make a dent at the moment.

They may hurt sales a bit too much if they go much beyond that though, at least in my opinion..

As much as I like the Fortuner, even R550k is a large sum of money.. much beyond that I would have extreme difficulty trying to justify it over something like a Discovery Sport or Range Rover Evoque.

Damn exchange rate and such...
But I wonder if Ford have factored that in, or they are trying to price the Everest at a premium over the Everest but slightly below things like the Prado...

I estimate the 'All New' Fortuner to be anything between R600000-R650000. Seeing that it is on sale in Thailand, only the diesel versions are on sale and the petrol versions are coming later.

R650K is pushing it for a Toyota so I think R615 for top spec sounds about right.
 
Saw two identical Limited versions of these this morning in that brown/burnt orange colour with GP dealer plates on but down in Cape Town on the N2.

Funniest of all is that I was trying to figure out what it is and completely read past the massive EVEREST logo all over the rear door panel by looking in the conventional places for it.

Guessing they were being driven from the Airport. One reason I love bikes over cars is that they arrive in a box with literally 0 kilometres on.

None of this 50km nonsense to get it to the dealership.
