Funniest of all is that I was trying to figure out what it is and completely read past the massive EVEREST logo all over the rear door panel by looking in the conventional places for it.

Guessing they were being driven from the Airport. One reason I love bikes over cars is that they arrive in a box with literally 0 kilometres on.

None of this 50km nonsense to get it to the dealership.

It's a bit harder to moves cars around with their engines off than bikes are.

Has Ford confirmed that 2.2l versions will come to SA? That could really help to drop the price.

Even the supercars these days don't always come in crates any more.

I have read that even with all the power of the 3.2 diesel engine, due to the weight of the Everest, it is a little sluggish to get off the mark. Doubt it will ever be available in 2.2 guise.
 
So I've seen the new Everest on the road.
Looks amazing.
Road presence is awesome.
Have not had the privilege to sit inside one, yet alone drive it.
Anyone here with first hand experience?
 
I have yet to see any on the road. The local reviews are that it is a proper good car/suv...main sticking point for all is that rather excessive pricing; tech & smart technologies taken into consideration.

Resale value should be rather high as well.

I have a colleague that is a 4x4 fanatic. He is impressed with the Everest. However, it is 2.5 tons, so expect a bit more on the fuel bill. Also highly priced, but he suspect that it is to enter the market and the 2.2l coming next year will be closer priced to the Fortuner and is going to be a hot seller. Minor irk is the seats that fold flat but can't be taken out. A bit of a space waster. Otherwise, a really good competitor in the SA market.

American auto major Ford has unveiled the production-spec 2015 Ford Everest in Beijing. The 7-seat SUV will go on sale in markets such as China, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa in 2015.

For ASEAN markets the SUV will be built at AutoAlliance Thailand in Rayong, Thailand, while for China it will be made at by Ford’s Jiangling Motors Corp (JMC) joint venture at the JMC Xiaolan Plant in Nanchang, China.

The Everest is based on the Ford Ranger pick-up truck and uses a body-on-frame construction. The Everest features a bold trapezoid grille, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights front and rear skid plates, side steps and a roof-mounted rear spoiler.

On the inside the Everest features a new multifunction steering wheel a redesigned modern-looking dashboard, centre console with a new audio system and redesigned controls for the air-conditioning and round air vents at the extreme ends of the dashboard.

There are 30 stowage spaces, multiple power outlets, powered liftgate, split folding second and third row seats and a large moon roof.

The 2015 Everest gets Ford's SYNC 2 infotainment system. Driver assist features include curve control, roll stability control, lane departure warning and lane keeping aid, active park assist, curve control, blind spot information system with cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward alert with collision mitigation and an electronic stability program that works with traction control.

The car also comes with seven airbags.

Engine options for the Everest include a new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder twin-scroll EcoBoost petrol and 2.2-litre 4-cylinder and 3.2-litre 5-cylinder diesel units.

The vehicle will be available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, depending upon specific market demand.

The Everest gets a Terrain Management System with four preset settings - normal, snow/gravel/grass, sand and rock—that alter the vehicle’s throttle response, transmission, intelligent four-wheel drive system and traction control according to the terrain.

Drivers can manually lock the transfer case in low-range four-wheel drive if necessary. The SUV has a ground clearance of 225 mm, and water wading capabilities of 800 mm.

In India, the Everest is likely to be renamed as the Endeavour.

Ford is expected to assemble it locally from CKD kits imported from Thailand to keep costs in check.

The SUV will compete against the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

The SUV will compete against the Toyota Fortuner,I dont see how this is possible because the price is will be the same range as the Prado

What do u mean by cant be taken out?
 
The seats fold flat, whereas you are able to take out the seats on a Fortuner (the back 2). Not a biggie, but the extra space is always welcome.
 
I saw one the road a short while ago...top spec Limited in that maroon type launch colour.

Good looking car & has some presence.

Hard to stomach that price though....
