Pricing is a fair bit higher and there are now more competitors in the segment. I have also noticed that there's been less advertising on the new one in comparison to when the old one was launched.
It is ****ty quality vs competitors in same price segment.
The figo is called KA+ in Europe. The European version is cheaper, has better suspension +handling & is better speced than SA(figo) version.
There are better cars for the same moola.

Ford Figo scores zero stars in Latin NCAP crash test
Latin NCAP has released the results of its latest crash test, with the Ford Figo (also badged as the Ford Ka in some markets) scoring zero stars for adult occupancy safety. It did, however, score three stars for child occupant protection.
It must be noted, though, that the sedan model tested was built in Brazil for markets such as Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Brazil itself. The Figo offered in South Africa, meanwhile, is produced in India, and scored three stars for adult occupant protection (with less safety kit than is offered in SA) in its Global NCAP crash-test back in March.
Still, it’s interesting to note that the Figo assessed by Latin NCAP failed to score a single star for adult occupancy protection despite the presence of two airbags, ABS, front seatbelt tensioners and Isofix child-seat anchors (SA-spec models, for the record, range from similar safety spec for the base derivatives – minus Isofix – through to a full complement of six airbags and stability control for the range-topper).
Latin NCAP said the Figo it evaluated “offered a particularly poor performance in side-impact protection”, which was “the main reason for the low star rating”.
“[It] performed poorly in the side-impact test, showing high levels of injuries in the adult chest, high B-pillar intrusion in the occupant compartment and a door opening. [It] did not offer side-impact energy absorption devices in its structure and in its inner door panel,” the Latin NCAP report explained.

So, I finally received a courtesy car from Ford, the new Figo. Yes, I would not buy it, but I must admin, this thing's aircon is at least 3 times better than the one in my car.

Hopefully it is electric based one, otherwise won't have any power with the AC turned on lol

Same story in the Ecosport - my Ecosport's aircon and fan combo is WAAAAY more potent than my T6 Ranger's. As both the Ecosport and Figo are built in India, I guess they get a beefed up unit for that climate or something.

Ford Freestyle - Figo-based compact utility vehicle unveiled
Ford has unveiled the Freestyle compact utility vehicle (CUV) in India. The vehicle, which is scheduled to go on sale in Q2 of 2018, is a crossover version of the Figo hatchback.
The exterior of the Freestyle is similar to its hatchback sibling. However, at the front it features new design elements like a 3D mesh grille finished in black, smoked headlamps, a redesigned front bumper with C-shaped, black foglamp housings and a silver scuff plate.
On the sides, the Freestyle gets a matte black plastic cladding, blacked-out B-pillars and ORVMs, silver roof rails and decals on the door panels. The car rides on 8-spoke alloy wheels finished in grey. The rear of the car features a roof-mounted spoiler and a tweaked bumper with black plastic inserts.
On the inside, the Freestyle gets a tweaked dashboard and a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen with Ford's SYNC 3 system. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and offers features like Bluetooth connectivity and voice commands.
Under the bonnet, the Freestyle comes with Ford's new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 95 BHP and 120 Nm of torque. This naturally-aspirated engine has been derived from the 1.5-litre Dragon Series engine that debuted in the EcoSport facelift that was launched in 2017.
The car is also available with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 99 BHP and 215 Nm of torque.
Ford claims that the Freestyle has a wider track width and higher ground clearance compared to the standard Figo.
The car is equipped with safety features such as traction control, ABS with EBD and up to 6 airbags.
It also has Active Rollover Prevention (ARP) which works in tandem with ESC to detect potential rollover situations. In such a scenario, the system can apply brakes to individual wheels and decrease engine torque.

Seemingly not content with letting the likes of the Toyota Etios Cross and Renault Sandero Stepway have all the cross-hatch fun, Ford has taken the wraps off its new Figo-based Freestyle model.
Presented to the press in South America (it will later this year hit the market in Brazil and Argentina) and India at the same time, Ford describes the Freestyle as a “global project developed with the participation of several countries to serve different markets”.
It’s not yet clear whether South Africa is one of those markets, with Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa’s official line being that it has “no plans” to introduce the new model here “at this stage”. Still, we suspect the brand is currently at least considering it, even if the newcomer may potentially tread on the toes of the EcoSport.
The FreeStyle is set apart from the standard Figo hatchback (which is also known as the Ka in some markets) thanks to its raised ride height, model-specific bumpers, a new finish for the grille, black-masked headlamps and, of course, obligatory black plastic body cladding. Ford calls its latest Freestyle crossover a Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) and it’s based on Ford’s entry-level Figo hatchback. Like the Figo, it’s produced at Ford's Indian plant in Sanand, Gujarat. Before we make a case for the Freestyle to come to South Africa, let’s see what it offers…
Key features
A raised ride height and body cladding give the Freestyle some rugged appeal.
The launch of the Freestyle in India heralds the introduction of a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine with 71 kW and 120 Nm of torque. The familiar 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine producing 74 kW and 215 Nm also does service in the Freestyle. Both engines are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Although the Freestyle shares its platform with (and bears some resemblance to) the Figo, its design is differentiated by its headlights, wide striking grille and C-shaped foglamp surrounds. The Freestyle also gets some extra crossover treatment in the form of plastic cladding, as well as functional roof rails and a tailgate-mounted roof spoiler. The rear-end is further differentiated with a redesigned bumper and taillights. Furthermore, the Freestyle features an increased ride height with a ground clearance of 190 mm, which is some 16 mm higher than that of the Figo.
The Freestyle shares its interior styling with the EcoSport and is offered with the latest SYNC3 in-car infotainment system.
The Freestyle is offered in Ambiente, Trend and Titanium derivatives and the interior design is similar to that of the new Ford EcoSport. High-spec derivatives are equipped with a 6.5-inch touchscreen with SYNC3, which offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while safety features include up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, active rollover prevention, hill launch assist, electronic stability program and traction control.
So what makes it suitable for South Africa?
Compact crossovers are hugely popular in South Africa and there’s a strong business case for affordable crossovers in the lower-end of the crossover spectrum. Current offerings in this segment include cars such as the Toyota Etios Cross, Renault Sandero Stepway, the previous Volkswagen Polo Vivo Maxx and the forthcoming Hyundai i20 Active, which is due to launch in South Africa in May 2018.

South Africans love exploring the outdoors and it’s also worth noting that roads in South Africa are generally in poor condition and many people access rural areas on gravel too, which means that the higher ride height and additional cladding makes this type of vehicle suitable for South African conditions.
Also, Ford already imports the Figo and Ecosport from India anyway, so why not add the Freestyle to the local lineup? It may very well be that the costs of importing the Freestyle to South Africa will result in an unfavourable local pricing structure. However, we believe there is merit in offering the Freestyle on local soil provided that its price is competitive. It’s also worth mentioning that international reviews of the Freestyle are very positive, highlighting the Freestyle's good performance and excellent ride quality.

The current Ford Figo hasn't fared particularly well against stiff competition at the budget end of the compact hatchback market. Ford SA is aware of this and will launch a facelifted Figo in 2018. Here's what we know so far.
While the new Volkswagen Polo Vivo rakes in the lion's share of sales at the entry point to the cutthroat compact hatchback market (where the Figo, Renault Sandero, Suzuki Celerio and Toyota Etios compete, to name a few examples), Ford hopes to strengthen its charge's purchasing proposition by introducing an updated Figo in the second half of this year. The revised car gains an updated front end with a new-look mesh grille (with chrome detailing) and daytime running lamps. Restyled tail lights have been fitted at the back, as well as a new-look rear bumper.
The big changes can be found inside the cabin, where Ford has equipped the facelifted Figo with a 6.5-inch touchscreen featuring Ford's SYNC3 infotainment system. The number of fascia buttons has also been reduced, which means the dashboard and centre stack look less cluttered.
In terms of dimensions, the new Figo is a tad bigger than the outgoing model at 3 941 mm long, 1 704 mm wide and 1 524 mm tall (compared with its predecessor's 3 929 mm, 1 695 mm and 1 524 mm). We predict the engine and gearbox combinations will be carried over to the new model.
As it stands, the Ford Figo is available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbodiesel motor. In petrol guise, it produces 82 kW and 136 Nm, while its oil-burning sibling offers outputs of 74 kW and 215 Nm. A manual 5-speed gearbox and 5-speed automatic transmission are available.
