I am busy looking for new hardware and re-build my PC, current things i got in mind.

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7 2600K - 3.40GHz Quad Core, Socket 1155, 8MB L3, DMI Bus, 32nm, x64,Intel HT,Intel VT, Intel HD Graphics @ 850MHz, 3 Year

Motherboard: GIGABYTE® G1.SNIPER 2: Z68 Express Chipset: Socket LGA1155, 2.5GT/s DMI, Supports: 2nd Generation Pentium, Core i3, i5 & i7 LGA1155

Memory: Transcend® JetRam™ High-Performance 4GB DDR3-1333 240-Pin Module : CL9, 6-Layer PC Board, Life-Time Warranty x4

I am just not sure what case yet.. I was thinking this one:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3924

And i will be using my current PSU that is the GIGABYTE® ODIN 585W 24-Pin Power Supply.

And will be using my current GTX460 SE Gigabyte.

Let me know if i should change something perhaps, opinions and suggestions are welcome please :)

What are you going to use the PC for?

That motherboard is insanely expensive, so I really can't recommend it unless you're going for an ultra-highend PC.

Main purpose of the machine?

CPU is overkill for gaming alone
Mobo is overkill just because
Check that the RAM is 1.5V, otherwise its fine. 16GB is over kill for gaming
That case is... not appealing to me but thats subjective. Lacks cooling options too
Your PSU is sub standard, but should be able to power everything. Look for a CM or Corsair replacement

It's crazy to go for a 2600k and a Sniper with a 585w Odin..
Why buy a Ferrari and then feed it pathetic petrol mixed with paraffin?

My advice would be:
CPU: 2500k at most
Motherboard: R1000 odd motherboard, unless you're intending to SLi. (which wouldn't be adviseable with a 460, you could rather then buy a single card with WAY better performance - you'd need a WAY better PSU as well)
RAM: 8GB DDR-1600 RAM that's still way cheaper than 16GB DDR-1333
PSU: Nothing less than a Corsair CX500, but I'd recommend you start looking at the Corsair HX650

Case: Get a nice case, Coolermaster 690 is a nice start for gamers. The coolermaster Sileo series is great if you want your PC to be less audible, and Lian-Li is just the ultimate in build-quality.

If I were , considering your probable budget, I would:
* Sell the 460 on Carbonite for R1000 and buy a new 6850 or GTX560ti
* Buy a 2500k
* Buy a R1000 motherboard, ASUS or Gigabyte makes great ones
* Buy 8GB RAM (you can save another R100 here by going DDR-1333, but I'd prefer DDR-1600 with that CPU)
* Get a decent case and PSU

Budget should end up being the same as your current one..

And i will be using my current PSU that is the GIGABYTE® ODIN 585W 24-Pin Power Supply.

THIS SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST UPGRADE, DO NOT EVEN BUY A NEW PC IF YOU RUNNING THIS.

i put it in caps because its that important!!

Thanks for all the replies.. I want to re-build a new Gaming PC that can pretty much handle any game on full GFX without single lag :)

I was thinking about that Sniper Mobo as well.. seems abit overkill, and yea that PSU i only got because my 800W one got fried, so got that for a quick replacement.

But please let the suggestions flow in, what will be good options i can go with.

Currently my reseller for our Company are Rectron.. so mainly what they have is Gigabyte boards, but let me know if you guys recommend another place i can buy Hardware from in Cape Town.

If you're looking for full quality gaming without any lag, the GTX 460SE isn't the way to go. Depending on your current specifications, that should be the first upgrade.

As for CPU, if you're not planning on overclocking drop the K-SKU unit and get a regular i7 2600.

For RAM, I agree 16GB is overkill. I currently have 8GB and can manage to run Win 7 x64, Ubuntu VM, Chrome with 15+ tabs, and still game without getting an 'out of memory' error.

Any online stores or places VIA Cape Town i can look for some hardware other than Gigabyte from Rectron? Or Odin Power Supply's

You can try Wootware, great service, good prices.

All online stores
Landmark (Pinelands)
Takealot (Milnerton)
Wootware (Somerset West)

Sweet, thanks, will probally look at TakeAlot, but what hardware would you guys go for with a budget off around R10 000?

My Current System:

QQ6600
4Gig Memory
GTX 460SE [ Still kinda new got in Feb ]
585W Odin PSU [ Still new as well, my 800W got fried so got fast replacement unit ]
Chassis is a Achillies probally like 5+ years old now :)
1x 80Gig IDE, 2x 160 SATA
Motherboard.. Gigabyte, can't remember Model number out off my head right now, but was like R500 - R700 5years back.

Your current system will be worth like R2.5 - R3k if you sell, while keeping the graphics card which is still decent. You could consider adding a second for SLI now or at a later stage.

For R10k the norm is:

i5 2500k
CPU cooler minimum Cooler Master Hyper 212+ Evo
Asus P8P67/P8Z68-V (or Gigabyte equivalent)
2 x 4GB DDR3-1600 1.5v RAM (i.e. Corsair Vengeance, not sure of what Transcend do)
Would not buy a HDD now due to increased prices
R1k case, many to choose from
±500watt PSU, Corsair CX500/600 / Corsair TX650 / Antec HCG 520 / Cooler Master GX550 / Gigabyte Odin GT (you will need a larger PSU for SLI)

Around R8k.

You could then consider a 60GB - 80GB SSD since you're saving on the graphics card, would bring it up to R10k.

Rough prices

i5 2500k - R2000
Z68/P67 mobo - R1500
8GB RAM - R600
New PSU (500 odd watt corsair) - R700
CM690ii - R900
GTX570 or HD6950 - R2800-3200
HDD - muchos expensive, do this last with whatever budget is left

And you're more or less at 10k

What do you guys think about this:

Motherboard: [Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3] R1879.86
CPU: [I5 2500k] R2016.66
GPU: [MSI GeForce Graphics Card GTX560 - TI - 1GB 256Bit GDDR5 - PCI-E] R2857
Memory: [Corsair Vengeance - 8GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600MHz] R671
PSU: [Corsair TX850W Power Supply - 850w] R1556
Chassis: [Cooler Master RC-692-KWN] R996

Total: R9305.53

Motherboard: GIGABYTE® G1.SNIPER 2: Z68 Express Chipset: Socket LGA1155, 2.5GT/s DMI, Supports: 2nd Generation Pentium, Core i3, i5 & i7 LGA1155

Some things I have learned the hard way

Mobo: Always get a Asus (they just so good)
Power Supply: Always Cooler Master or Corsair everything else is way below standard
Ram: Corsair 8 gig 1600 or 2000 are so good :)

All good except mobo get ASUS or even MSI preferable the first one

That cpu is so awesome  i got one as well

If you can dont spend R1200 or whatever on a hard drive possibly get a SSD they are so good and wow what a experience got mine the weekend (Felt like I died and went to a very happy place)

My SSD was only a 120 Gig for R2000 something but way worth it
