PSU is overkill unless you intend running 2 graphics cards (in which case looking for a second GTX460 might be the best, most cost effective route).
 
Wootware has got a few Inno3D 560ti's left for R2200. That's better than the MSi @ R2800.
The rest of your proposed system is decent, you can get a cheaper motherboard, that one will probably have features you won't ever think of using.

I will still continue using my GTX460SE and wait for the 600 Series and buy that next year :)

Let me know how this setup catches your eyes?
 
Why P8P67 Pro opposed to straight P8P67?

i7 will be of no benefit for gaming, only heavy coding/video/gfx/modelling/CAD/design/etc. work. If you need it for those things, go ahead.

750watt is overkill unless you're going to run dual graphics cards. Corsair TX650v2 is around the same price and a better [brand] PSU.

Why are you going for the 2600k?
Do you
a) Render stuff
b) Encode vidoes
c) Model stuff in 3D
d) Compress files
e) Benchmark

If you dont do the above more than 30% of the time, then you are wasting your money. Why people ask for advice and then ignore it is beyond me

Friend off mine that worked for Rectron tells me alot have been trading in or replacing there i5 2500k for the i7 2600k because it's just better.. so dunno.

Z68 is a newer chipset, but AFAIK it offers very little improvement, perhaps only increased SSD performance? Don't quote me. Both OC well.

P8Z68-V has onboard VGA, P8P67 doesn't.

Is the 2600k better overall? Yes
Is the 2600k better while gaming? No, in fact you get the EXACT same fps

Hence the questions about what else you use the computer for... Paying R1000 more for something that will give you 0-1% performance difference in 99% of your tasks is silly

I see the P8Z68 does not have this on it:

You've been asking for advice and the best bang for your buck.
So please don't spend R10 000 and sit with 5% better frames/p/s in games if you're a gamer.

If you're a gamer you should upgrade your GPU three times for every one time you upgrade your CPU etc.
In 95% of cases the only reason to upgrade your CPU is if it starts bottlenecking your GPU.
Save money by rather going 2500k, then wait and buy a monster 7xxx GPU in January.

For R10 000 you should see a moerse improvement, and 2600k over a Q6600 is going to be less than stellar if you skimp on GPU.

Thanks for all the info, i just can't decide what Asus Motherboard to take.

The P67 Asus one does support some nice sound.. and then the latest Asus Z68 Chipset one don't have that.
 
Get a SSD :p

For the biggest noticeable difference. It will make you WANT to use your computer lol. No FPS increase thou.


I went for the 2600k. Converts a movie in 4 minutes with Intel Quick Sync :)

Edit: Btw, I have the Cooler Master V8 on a Asus Maximus Gene Z
