New hate speech bill opened for public comment

So we can still hate vegetarians? Or will they be protected under 'beliefs'? And if I hate them cos I believe they are fsucking annoying, am I protected? I see no protection for the fat, the ugly, the stupid, the weak, those with poor fashion sense, old senile people, poor-kids, pregnant women, short people?

I see so much stereotyping in this post..

I'm offended and therefore you are guilty of breaking the law.

i think "social origin" could be twisted suite those SJW concerns

is it hate speech if it is in another language that they think you don't understand?

Have that in my office.
They think i don't understand the language but the things they say will shock you people!

Should actually try record it and have it translated byu independent person, to show you

So , is that hate speech or what??

Reading through some comments here - I can't help but think... If I was a rapist and I was told that the sentences for rapists would be stiffer, I would have a problem with it.

So I can sue anyone who tells me I believe in fairies... WONDERFUL!, Atheist better check themselves before they wreck themselves. WTF is Social origin and Albinism? Is Albinism the heinous crime of hating someone solely on the basis that they went to St Albans?

Not under this bill you can't.

Some of the comments (like the one quoted above) are actually cringe worthy for their display of ignorance.

Do people really not understand the difference between hate speech and normal criticism?

Do they really not know what albinism is?
Here CorrieDeBeer, read a little and educate yourself:

and what if you were not a rapist, but a new law left so much room to maneuver that you can now be found guilty of rape for just looking at pr0n (the legal kind)?

That's easy to say when there are literally no examples of blacks being taken to task over this, isn't it?

Racist must be squirming. This law couldn't come soon enough. We have had it.

...it says, in the full knowledge that its own race will never be prosecuted under such "law".

Some lack a deep understanding of the fundamental importance of free speech. They will only appreciate the freedoms they once had, once those freedoms are taken away, and the security state turns their attention on them. Our northern neighbour understands this well. But their understanding came too late.

Black people have been objects of scorn by certain sections of society simply because they're black.

White people have been objects of scorn by certain sections of society simply because they're white.

Fortunately, our courts are colour blind. How can this law be a bad thing?

Oh goody! You've actually gone down this road. Now we get to roast you.

Provide some examples showing how the courts are colour blind by listing where a black person has been prosecuted for hate speech. We all know the white examples exist so unless you can provide something, you're talking rubbish. Remember, you made the claim that the courts are colour blind so it is up to you to provide proof.

You are completely discounting the fact that there is disproportion in the colour of the victims who are mostly black.
